AP Civil Judge Eligibility 2026 Criteria

Educational Qualification & General Criteria

• Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB) from a recognised university in India.

• Must be a citizen of India with good moral character and physical fitness.

Age Limit (As on September 1, 2026)

• Direct Recruitment: Candidates must not have completed 35 years of age as on September 1, 2026.

• Recruitment by Transfer: Candidates must not have completed 48 years of age as on September 1, 2026.

• Age Relaxation: The upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years for SC, ST, BC, and EWS candidates. Upper age relaxation of up to 10 years applies to Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD).

AP Civil Judge 2026 Selection Process & Exam Pattern

Selection for the AP Civil Judge Vacancy 2026 comprises three successive phases:

1. Screening Test (CBT):

• Computer-based objective examination with 100 Multiple Choice Questions (100 Marks) for a duration of 2 hours.

• Candidates securing at least 40% marks are eligible for shortlisting to the written exam in a 1:10 ratio. Marks obtained here are for screening only and not added to final merit.

2. Main Written Examination (3 Papers):

• Paper-I (Civil Laws): 100 Marks (3 Hours duration)

• Paper-II (Criminal Laws): 100 Marks (3 Hours duration)

• Paper-III (English Translation & Essay Writing): 100 Marks (Part-I Translation: 40 Marks, Part-II Essay Writing: 60 Marks).

3. Viva Voce (Interview):

• Carries 50 marks. Candidates are shortlisted for viva voce in a 1:3 ratio based on written exam performance.
