
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the UPSC Law Officer Notification 2025 through Advertisement No. 14/2025. The recruitment drive is for 100 posts of Examiner of Trade Marks & Geographical Indications, a law-based Group ‘B’ Gazetted position under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Eligible candidates can apply online only through the official UPSC recruitment portal.
The online application process begins on December 13, 2025, and the last date to submit the application form is January 1, 2026 (till 6:00 PM).

Educational Qualification: Degree in Law from a recognised university
Experience: Minimum two years’ experience in handling court cases, legal matters, or trade marks and geographical indications
Age Limit:
UR/EWS: Up to 30 years
OBC: Up to 33 years
SC/ST: Up to 35 years
PwBD: Up to 40 years

Go to upsconline.nic.in and create an account if you don’t have one.
Universal Registration
Complete the universal registration to generate your URN (Universal Registration Number), required for all UPSC applications.
Fill the Common Application Form (CAF)
Enter personal details, educational qualifications, and other mandatory information carefully.
Complete Post-Specific Form
Select the Law Officer / Examiner of Trade Marks & Geographical Indications post and provide details like experience, category, and PwBD status if applicable.
Upload Documents
Upload scanned copies of required documents, including:
10th/Matriculation certificate (DOB proof)
Law degree certificate and mark sheets
Experience certificates
Caste / PwBD certificate (if applicable)
Any other supporting document in PDF format
Pay Application Fee (if applicable)
₹25 for General/OBC/EWS (Male) candidates
SC/ST/PwBD/Women candidates are exempt
Payment can be made via debit/credit card, UPI, or net banking.
Submit & Print Application
Submit the form online and take a printout of the completed application for future reference and interview.
The selection will be done through:
Shortlisting (based on qualifications/experience)
Recruitment Test (if conducted)
Interview
The final selection will be based on overall performance as decided by UPSC.
Selected candidates will be appointed at Level 7 of the Pay Matrix (7th CPC). The post is permanent and falls under General Central Service, Group ‘B’, Gazetted, Non-Ministerial category.
General/OBC/EWS (Male): ₹25
SC/ST/PwBD/Women candidates: Exempted
