CMAT Eligibility Criteria

The Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) is a national-level management entrance examination conducted for admission to MBA and other management programmes offered by participating institutions. Before filling out the application form, you should carefully check the CMAT eligibility criteria prescribed by the conducting authority.

The eligibility requirements mainly include nationality, educational qualification, and other basic conditions. Since there is no age restriction and graduates from any academic stream can apply, CMAT remains accessible to a wide range of candidates seeking admission to management courses.

Understanding the eligibility conditions in advance can help avoid issues during the admission and document verification process.

Minimum Percentage Requirement

The CMAT eligibility criteria do not prescribe any minimum percentage of marks in graduation.

However, individual MBA colleges and participating institutions may specify their own minimum marks or percentage requirements during admission. Therefore, candidates should carefully check the admission criteria of their preferred institutions.

Eligibility of Final-Year Students

Candidates appearing in the final year of their Bachelor's Degree programme are also eligible to apply for CMAT.

However:

  • They must complete their graduation successfully.

  • Their final results should be declared before the commencement of the admission process for the respective academic year (As required by the notification).

  • Admission remains subject to the submission of proof of qualification during document verification.

Number of Attempts in CMAT

The official CMAT eligibility conditions do not specify any restriction on the number of attempts.

Therefore:

  • Candidates may appear for CMAT multiple times.

  • There is no prescribed maximum attempt limit.

  • Candidates can reappear in future years to improve their scores if required.

Other Important Eligibility Requirements

Apart from nationality and educational qualifications, CMAT does not prescribe additional eligibility conditions such as work experience or physical fitness standards. However, candidates applying for category exceptions, such as PwBD, must have the required supporting documents.

PwBD/PwD Candidates

Candidates applying under the Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) category must upload valid disability certificates and supporting documents as prescribed during the application process.

These documents are required to avail examination-related facilities and reservation benefits wherever applicable.

Before submitting the application form, candidates should keep the following points in mind:

  • Candidates must be Indian citizens.

  • A Bachelor's Degree in any discipline is mandatory.

  • Final-year graduation students can apply provisionally.

  • No minimum percentage is prescribed by CMAT.

  • No age limit applies.

  • No work experience is required.
