Dr. Mohd Afzal Siddique cleared the FMGE June 2026 examination in his fifth attempt after facing repeated failures and a difficult personal loss. Instead of giving up, he rebuilt his preparation by strengthening his concepts, revising consistently, and following a single study platform.
In this success story, he shares the challenges he faced, the lessons he learned, and how Physics Wallah supported his FMGE preparation.
Dr. Mohd Afzal Siddique completed his MBBS from Q Medical University in 2024. After finishing his graduation, he returned to India with confidence. He believed that his preparation was good and expected to clear FMGE.
However, life changed unexpectedly after his return.
Within a few weeks of coming back to India, he lost his father. This became one of the biggest challenges of his life. Along with the emotional pain, his family also went through a very difficult period.
Recalling that phase, he said,
"Jab main India aaya, mujhe laga tha FMGE nikal jayega. Preparation bhi achhi thi. Lekin India aane ke kuch din baad mere father ki death ho gayi."
He admitted that the entire family was deeply affected. It was not easy to recover from such a loss. Still, they supported each other and moved forward together.
After his father's passing, Dr. Afzal appeared for FMGE. Unfortunately, he could not clear the examination. He appeared again but faced another failure.
Even after multiple unsuccessful attempts, he did not stop preparing.
He continued studying, joined coaching in Delhi, and kept working on his mistakes. His scores improved in some attempts, but they were still not enough to qualify.
Instead of giving up, he continued searching for better ways to improve his preparation.
Looking back at those attempts, he shared that he never wanted to stop fighting for his dream of becoming a doctor.
During one stage of his preparation, Dr. Afzal watched a Physics Wallah YouTube lecture. After watching it, he decided to explore the platform further.
After watching the session, he decided to explore the platform in detail. He wanted to understand whether it could help him improve his preparation.
According to him, the teaching style immediately caught his attention.
He realised that many of his basic concepts were still weak. Those small conceptual gaps were affecting his performance in the examination.
He shared,
"Video dekhne ke baad mujhe laga ki mere bahut saare basic concepts miss ho gaye the."
He also appreciated the teaching style of Dr. Prashant V., saying that the explanations helped him understand concepts that had remained unclear during his earlier preparation.
He said that several concepts, especially in Gynaecology, became clear for the first time because of the simple explanations provided during the classes.
He added,
"Main itna basic bhi nahi jaanta tha. Sir ki wajah se bahut saare basics samajh aaye."
This encouraged him to rebuild his preparation by strengthening his fundamentals instead of relying only on memorisation.
After joining Physics Wallah, Dr. Afzal changed the way he studied. Instead of simply solving questions, he started understanding the explanation behind every answer.
He carefully watched the lectures and solved questions along with their detailed explanations. Whenever he found an important concept, he noted it down in a separate notebook for revision.
He explained,
"Mujhe full deeply explanation chahiye tha. Maine explanation dekha, sab kuch book mein likha aur baar-baar revise kiya."
This approach helped him understand topics that had troubled him in his earlier attempts.
The PW FMGE Predictor Series became an important part of his revision strategy.
He completed the entire Predictor Series and carefully reviewed every explanation instead of simply checking the correct answers. According to him, this helped him revise many important concepts before the examination.
He especially mentioned that the 50 Most Expected Questions proved very useful during the exam.
He recalled,
"50 Most Expected mere liye bahut zyada benefit the."
Several Pharmacology concepts that he previously struggled to remember became easier to recall because of the detailed explanations.
During the examination, he recalled those explanations while attempting several questions.
He shared,
"Exam mein baitha tha aur video ki ek line mere dimaag mein aa gayi. Mujhe yaad aa gaya ki sir ne ye bataya tha."
He said that these visual memories helped him answer several questions with confidence.
One of the most important changes in his preparation was limiting the number of study resources.
After analysing his previous attempts, Dr. Afzal decided not to study from multiple books or different platforms.
Instead, he stayed committed to one platform and revised the same material repeatedly.
He explained,
"Maine sirf ek platform pakda aur usko consistency se follow kiya."
He also shared an important lesson from his preparation.
"Maine 10 books ek-ek baar nahi padhi. Maine ek book ko 10 baar padha."
According to him, repeated revision of the same resource helped him remember concepts much better than constantly changing books.
This approach also reduced confusion during the final weeks of preparation.
Dr. Afzal believes that consistency matters more than studying from many different sources.
He advised students not to get distracted by different opinions during preparation.
According to him, students should trust their teachers, revise regularly, and continue improving their concepts.
Sharing his experience, he said,
"Aap sirf apne guru ki baat suniye. Consistency rakhiye. Phir aapko koi fail nahi kar sakta."
He believes that studying regularly and revising the same concepts again and again helped him stay prepared for the examination.
This consistent effort eventually helped him clear FMGE June 2026 in his fifth attempt.
