NEET PG 2026 Exam Day Guidelines: The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has issued detailed instructions for candidates appearing in NEET PG 2026. As per the official Information Bulletin, NEET PG 2026 admit cards will be made available on August 27, 2026, and candidates must follow the prescribed reporting, document verification, security and examination procedures carefully.

The examination will be conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode. Candidates should reach the examination centre well in advance and carry all mandatory documents in the prescribed format. Late entry, prohibited items, invalid ID proof or failure to follow security procedures can lead to denial of entry.

NEET PG 2026 Exam Day Guidelines Overview

The official schedule mentions that candidates will be allowed to enter the examination centre from 7:00 AM, entry will close at 8:30 AM, candidate login will be available at 8:45 AM, and the examination will begin at 9:00 AM and end at 12:30 PM.

NEET PG 2026 Exam Day Reporting Time

Candidates must report to the Reporting Counter according to the time mentioned on their NEET PG admit card.

A very important point is that the Reporting Counter may be located some distance away from the main gate of the examination venue. Therefore, reaching the venue alone is not sufficient—the candidate must reach the designated entry/reporting point on time.

The Reporting Counter will close 30 minutes before the examination begins. Candidates arriving late at the reporting point will not be allowed to enter, even if they have reached the examination venue premises.

• Centre entry starts: 7:00 AM

• Entry closes: 8:30 AM

• Candidate login: 8:45 AM

• Instructions: 8:50 AM

• Exam starts: 9:00 AM

• Exam ends: 12:30 PM

Important: NBEMS will not be responsible for delays caused by traffic, transportation problems or any other reason. Late candidates will not be allowed to appear for the examination.

Check NEET PG Exam Centre One Day Before

Candidates should not wait until the exam morning to locate their examination centre.

The exact centre address and location will be mentioned on the admit card. Candidates are advised to visit or verify the examination centre and the Reporting Counter at least one day before the exam. The Google Maps location mentioned in the admit card is only for quick reference, and candidates remain responsible for confirming the exact location.

Candidates should also keep sufficient time for:

• Registration

• Identity verification

• Security checking

• Biometric authentication

• Photograph capture

• Face ID verification

• Other examination-centre procedures

NBEMS advises candidates not to make inflexible onward travel arrangements on the examination day because these processes may take additional time.

Documents Required for NEET PG 2026 Exam

Candidates must carry the following documents to the examination centre.

1. Colour Printout of Admit Card

A printed colour copy of the barcoded/QR-coded admit card is mandatory.

2. SMC/MCI/NMC Registration Certificate

Candidates must carry a photocopy of their Permanent/Provisional SMC/MCI/NMC registration certificate. The photocopy will be retained by the test centre.

3. Original Valid Photo ID

Candidates must carry an original and valid, non-expired government-issued photo ID.

Accepted IDs include:

• PAN Card

• Driving Licence

• Voter ID

• Passport

• Aadhaar Card with photograph

Photocopies of government ID cards will not be accepted.

The name on the photo ID should match the name on the admit card. If the name has changed because of marriage or another legal reason, the candidate must carry relevant supporting documents.

Is Aadhaar Mandatory for NEET PG 2026?

Candidates who provided Aadhaar details and consented to Aadhaar-based authentication in their application are required to bring Aadhaar on the examination day.

Candidates who provided Aadhaar details are advised to carry:

• Original Aadhaar Card, or

• e-Aadhaar, or

• Good-quality colour print of e-Aadhaar, or

• Colour photocopy of Aadhaar Card.

The Aadhaar biometric authentication should not be locked or disabled on the examination day.

Candidates with locked biometrics may face difficulties during Aadhaar authentication. The bulletin advises such candidates to update their biometric data, if required, before the examination.

Importantly, Aadhaar authentication is only a facilitative measure for identity verification and is not considered proof of eligibility for NEET PG 2026.

Is DigiLocker ID Accepted at NEET PG Exam Centre?

No. Candidates must carry the original hard copy of a valid government-issued photo ID.

A photocopy of the government ID will not be accepted, and an ID shown through DigiLocker will also not be accepted because electronic devices are not permitted inside the examination centre.

Therefore, candidates should not depend on a digital copy of their ID on the exam day.

NEET PG 2026 Prohibited Items

Candidates should be extremely careful about what they carry to the examination centre. NBEMS has prohibited several categories of items beyond the security checkpoint.

Candidates cannot carry:

• Pen

• Pencil

• Calculator

• Writing pad

• Eraser

• Pen drive

• Notes

• Books or other textual material

• Plastic pouch

Electronic Devices

The following are also prohibited:

• Mobile phone

Important: No Cloakroom Facility

Candidates should not bring prohibited items assuming that the examination centre will provide a facility to keep them. NBEMS states that there will be no arrangement at the centres for keeping candidates' belongings. Possession of prohibited items beyond the security checkpoint may be treated as use of unfair means.

NEET PG 2026 Security Check

Security checking will be mandatory for all candidates entering the examination centre.

The security process may include:

• Hand-held metal detector screening

• Physical frisking

• Inspection of ears for concealed Bluetooth/communication devices

• Detection of micro-electronic gadgets

• Other security measures required to maintain examination integrity.

For female candidates, a separate cloth-covered frisking booth will be provided, and frisking will be conducted by female security personnel.

Candidates are expected to cooperate fully with security personnel and examination officials.

Biometric and Face ID Verification

NEET PG 2026 candidates will undergo identity verification at the test centre.

Finger biometrics will be captured during registration. Photographs may also be captured:

• During registration

• At each bio-break

• During the examination

Face ID verification will be performed using photographs captured on the exam day and the photograph uploaded in the application form.

Candidates are therefore advised to ensure that their application contains a recent photograph to avoid problems during Face ID verification.

Avoid Mehendi or Colour on Fingers

Candidates are advised to avoid applying mehendi/henna or colour tattoos on their fingers, as these may cause difficulties during fingerprint-based biometric registration.

NEET PG 2026 Exam Hall Rules

After identity verification and photograph capture, candidates will be directed to their designated computer terminal. An invigilator will assist with the check-in process.

Candidates must keep their admit card and photo ID with them throughout the examination.

Candidates must:

• Listen carefully to the invigilator's instructions.

• Remain at their assigned workstation.

• Avoid looking at other candidates.

• Follow all examination instructions.

• Raise their hand if they need assistance.

The workstations will be blocked from three sides and surveillance cameras will record the examination.

Candidates must not talk to other candidates or look at another candidate's computer screen. Suspicious or disruptive behaviour may lead to cancellation of candidature.

Will Rough Paper and Pen Be Provided?

Candidates should not carry their own pen, pencil or rough paper.

The bulletin specifically states that no rough paper or pen/pencil will be provided at the test centre and that carrying such items inside is neither required nor permitted.

Candidates should follow the instructions provided by the test centre regarding any permitted method of rough work.

What Happens if There Is a Technical Problem?

Candidates should not panic if a technical disruption occurs during the examination.

NBEMS has prescribed procedures for technical problems to ensure that candidates do not lose their allotted examination time.

Power Failure

If a disruption such as power failure occurs after candidates have logged in, the examination timer will stop and resume once the problem is resolved. There will be no loss of the allotted examination time.

Computer Gets Locked

If a candidate's computer gets locked because of connectivity problems, the IT Manager will verify and unlock the account. The timer will resume from the point where the candidate left the examination.

Computer/Machine Problem

If there is a problem such as screen flickering, mouse malfunction, repeated system locking or hanging, the IT Manager/Invigilator will examine the machine. If necessary, the candidate may be shifted to a buffer seat in the same or another lab.

According to the bulletin, such a seat change will not result in loss of allotted examination time.

NEET PG 2026 Medical Devices, Medicines and Scribe Rules

Candidates who need to carry medicines or medical assistance devices must bring supporting medical documents. Without appropriate documentation, such items may not be permitted inside the examination centre.

Candidates requiring a scribe or compensatory time must obtain prior approval from NBEMS and provide the required documents as prescribed under the RPwD Act, 2016. The requirement must also have been mentioned in the application form.

A candidate cannot bring a scribe into the examination centre without prior approval from NBEMS.

Can Parents or Friends Enter the NEET PG Exam Centre?

No.

Friends and relatives accompanying candidates will not be permitted inside the examination centre premises. They will also not be allowed to contact candidates while the examination process is ongoing.

Parents and accompanying persons should also avoid gathering around:

• Entry/exit gates

• Security checkpoints

• Access routes

This is to prevent obstruction to candidate movement, security procedures and traffic flow.
