The WB NEET UG Counselling 2025 Round 1 has been suspended following the OBC reservation disputes in the state’s high court. The counselling will resume after the court’s decision. This suspension affects the admission process for 11,178 students. Candidates who have registered for the WB NEET Counselling 2025 will be entertained for seat allotment once the counselling starts.
The revised schedule for counselling rounds will be released shortly by the conducting authorities.
Union Minister of State for Education Sukanta Majumdar sharply criticized the West Bengal government's decision to suspend this counselling. He called it unfair and said it harms medical students' careers. He also suggested the suspension might be a political move to give special reservation benefits to certain groups, putting students' careers at risk.
Thousands of students on the revised merit list are now left uncertain as counselling is paused without any update or timeline. Many had chosen their seats and were ready to attend the colleges by August 21, 2025, but the delay has disrupted their plans. They are waiting for clear information from the official authorities.
