Lakhs of B.Ed and D.El.Ed holders in Bihar have been waiting nearly two years for a number instead of a rumour. That number has now arrived: 32,388.
The Bihar Education Department has formally sent its requisition to the Bihar Public Service Commission for the appointment of 32,388 teachers under the fourth edition of the Teacher Recruitment Examination, popularly called TRE 4. In practical terms, this is the step that converts a political promise into an administrative file. Once a requisition reaches BPSC, the Commission's job is to frame the advertisement, fix the eligibility matrix, and open the application window.
Every teacher recruitment cycle in Bihar tends to travel through three stages — a cabinet-level statement, a departmental requisition, and finally the BPSC advertisement. Aspirants have heard stage-one statements repeatedly since the TRE 3 dust settled. The requisition is the harder, more verifiable milestone, because BPSC cannot advertise a single post until the parent department sends the sanctioned figure in writing. That has now happened.
Class-wise vacancy distribution — where the real opportunity sits
The post-wise break-up shared is: Classes 1-5 — 3,847 posts; Classes 6-8 — 8,563 posts; Classes 9-10 — 3,877 posts; and Classes 11-12 — 16,101 posts.
Read that table again, because it changes preparation strategy completely.
Almost half of the entire recruitment — 16,101 of 32,388 posts, or roughly 49.7 per cent — sits in the higher secondary bracket, Classes 11 and 12. This is the sharpest tilt towards senior-secondary teaching Bihar has seen in the TRE series. For a postgraduate with B.Ed and a subject specialisation, the statistical odds here are far better than in the primary segment, where only 3,847 posts are on offer against what is historically the largest applicant pool in the state.
The middle-school segment (Classes 6-8) at 8,563 posts is the second-largest block. Classes 9-10, at 3,877 posts, is the tightest competition-to-vacancy ratio in the set.
Which government schools are covered
The recruitment will cover vacancies in primary, middle, secondary and higher secondary government schools across Bihar. That spread means district-level allocation will again be a decisive factor at the counselling stage, and candidates should expect the familiar pattern of preference-based posting after the written examination and document verification.
The official BPSC TRE 4.0 notification PDF is expected in August 2026 on the Commission's website, and the complete set of details — vacancy annexure, registration dates, eligibility, and the selection process — will be published along with it. The selection for TRE 4.0 is expected to rest on a single-stage process, that is, the written examination.
Until that PDF is uploaded, no date circulating on Telegram, WhatsApp or YouTube thumbnails carries any weight. Aspirants should treat only bpsc.bih.nic.in / bpsc.bihar.gov.in as authoritative.
A warning aspirants genuinely need right now
Within hours of the requisition news, fabricated "TRE 4.0 official notification" PDFs began circulating, some quoting inflated vacancy counts far above 32,388 and specific application and examination dates. These documents are not from BPSC. Downloading them is harmless; paying for "form filling" or "seat confirmation" services based on them is not. Every genuine BPSC application is filed directly on the Commission's portal, and the only fee payable is the prescribed examination fee.
For scale, the Bihar TRE 3.0 examination was conducted for 87,774 posts across primary, middle, secondary and senior secondary levels, and was held on 19, 20, 21 and 22 July 2024. TRE 4, at 32,388 posts, is a smaller drive in absolute terms — but it is heavily weighted towards senior classes, which the previous cycles were not. Candidates who narrowly missed the TRE 3 cut-off in the Class 11-12 category are the clearest beneficiaries of this composition.
Keep documents ready in digital form — matriculation certificate, graduation and post-graduation marksheets, B.Ed/D.El.Ed certificate, eligibility test scorecard (STET/CTET/BTET as applicable), caste and domicile certificates, and a recent photograph and signature in BPSC's specified dimensions.
Verify the validity of your teacher eligibility test certificate for the level you intend to apply for. Level mismatch is the single most common cause of rejection in Bihar teacher recruitment.
Revise the general studies and subject-specific portions of the TRE syllabus rather than waiting for the advertisement; the pattern in this series has been consistent across editions.
Track the BPSC website and its official notice board daily from the first week of August 2026.
The requisition for 32,388 posts is real, it is on record, and it has been publicly confirmed at the level of the Chief Minister. What remains is the BPSC advertisement, expected in August 2026. The candidate who spends the interval revising rather than refreshing social media feeds is the one who will be ready when the form window opens.
This report will be updated the moment the official BPSC TRE 4.0 notification PDF is published.
