The Central Board of Secondary Education has published the CBSE 12th Supplementary Date Sheet 2026 on its official portal, cbse.gov.in. According to the notification, the CBSE Class 12 Supplementary (Compartment) Exam 2026 will be conducted on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, in a single shift, with each paper running for a different duration depending on the subject. Students who could not clear one or more subjects in the main board exam — as well as those seeking to improve their score — can now check the complete subject-wise schedule and start their final round of preparation.

Notably, the exam date has been revised from the earlier July 15 schedule to July 28, giving candidates a slightly longer preparation window. Anyone still relying on the old timetable should switch to the updated CBSE Class 12 Supplementary Time Table 2026 immediately.

CBSE Class 12 Supplementary Exam 2026: Subject-Wise Timings

The board is holding all papers on a single day across two time bands. Candidates must confirm their reporting time on the admit card, as it may differ from the paper start time.

Slot 1 — 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM (3 hours): This slot covers most mainstream academic and vocational subjects, including English Core and Elective, Hindi Core and Elective, Urdu, Sanskrit, Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, History, Political Science, Geography, Economics, Psychology, Sociology, Accountancy, Business Studies, Physical Education, Computer Science, Informatics Practices, Entrepreneurship, Home Science and Legal Studies. A wide range of skill subjects — such as Retail, Information Technology, Web Application, Automotive, Financial Market Management, Tourism, Beauty & Wellness, Agriculture, Electronics Technology, Banking, Marketing, Health Care, Insurance, Fashion Studies, Mass Media Studies, Business Administration, Food Nutrition & Dietetics and Electronics & Hardware — are also scheduled in this window.

Slot 2 — 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM (2 hours): The following papers carry a shorter two-hour duration: Hindustani Music (Vocal), Hindustani Music (Melodic Instrumental), Painting, Applied Art (Commercial Art), Yoga, Early Childhood Care & Education, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science and Physical Activity Trainer.

Who Is Eligible for the CBSE Class 12 Supplementary Exam 2026?

CBSE has defined three categories of eligible candidates for the 2026 supplementary cycle:

  • Compartment candidates (2026 batch): Students placed in the "Compartment" category in the 2026 board exam after failing in one or more subjects.

  • Improvement candidates (2026 batch): Students who have already passed but wish to improve their marks in one subject.

  • Compartment candidates (2025 batch) — last chance: Students from the 2025 cycle still carrying a compartment. The board permits a maximum of three attempts to clear a compartment subject.

Around 1.63 lakh students fall in the compartment category this year. The context: the CBSE Class 12 Result 2026, declared on May 13, 2026, recorded an overall pass percentage of 85.20%, meaning roughly 2.7 lakh of the 17.8 lakh registered candidates did not clear the main examination held between February 17 and April 10, 2026.

CBSE Class 12 Supplementary Admit Card 2026

CBSE will release the CBSE Class 12 Supplementary Admit Card 2026 shortly, typically distributed to regular students through their schools (private candidates can access it online). Entry to the examination hall is not permitted without a valid admit card, so students must collect it well in advance and verify all details — name, subject, exam centre and reporting time.

Exam Day Instructions

  • Reach the examination centre well before the reporting time.

  • Carry the admit card and other permitted documents.

  • No mobile phones, calculators or communication devices are allowed inside the centre.

  • The duration of each paper is printed on both the date sheet and admit card.

  • Candidates get 15 minutes of reading time before the exam to read the question paper and plan their answers.

  • Maintain discipline throughout the examination.
