The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has kicked off the official post-result process for Class 10 students from the 2026 Main and Second Board Examinations. If you're a student — or a parent — who feels a subject score doesn't add up, this is the window you've been waiting for. Here is everything you need on dates, fees, eligibility, and the exact process to follow on cbse.gov.in.
Scanned copy application window: Now open — last date August 9, 2026
Verification / Re-evaluation application window: August 14 to August 19, 2026
Where to apply: cbse.gov.in (official CBSE website only)
Fee for scanned copy: ₹300 per subject
Fee for re-evaluation: ₹100 per question
CBSE has structured this as a three-stage, fully online process — a shift from the older paper-based system, giving students actual visibility into their evaluated answer scripts before deciding whether to contest their marks.
Stage 1 — Apply for Scanned Copies (Now – August 9) Students first apply online to obtain a digital scanned copy of their evaluated answer book for ₹300 per subject. This is mandatory — you cannot skip straight to revaluation.
Stage 2 — Review Your Answer Sheet Once you receive the scanned copy, go through every page carefully. Check that:
All answers have actually been evaluated
Marks have been totalled correctly
Awarded marks have been transferred accurately to the title page
Stage 3 — Apply for Verification and/or Re-evaluation (August 14–19) If you spot a discrepancy, you can apply for:
Verification of marks — confirms totalling and transcription accuracy (the original evaluation itself is not re-checked)
Re-evaluation — a fresh assessment of specific answers, at ₹100 per question
Students who appeared in the CBSE Class 10 Main Board Examination 2026
Students who appeared in both the Main and Second Board Examinations — these students can request scanned copies of answer sheets from both exams, but can seek re-evaluation or verification for only one exam as per the board's separate eligibility guidelines
A lot of students confuse the two. Here's the distinction:
| Service | What it checks | Fee |
| Verification of marks | Totalling accuracy, all answers evaluated, marks transferred correctly | ₹300 (with scanned copy) |
| Re-evaluation | Fresh look at specific answer(s) by the examiner | ₹100 per question |
Important: verification does not mean your answer gets re-marked — it only checks for clerical/procedural errors. For an actual re-check of how an answer was assessed, you need re-evaluation.
Visit the official CBSE website, cbse.gov.in
Navigate to the Class 10 post-result services / examination link
Log in using your roll number, school number, and other credentials as required
Select the subject(s) for scanned copy
Pay the applicable fee online
Download and review your scanned answer sheet
During the verification/re-evaluation window, apply again citing specific concerns
With lakhs of Class 10 students appearing for CBSE boards every year, this post-result mechanism is a critical accountability check — it lets students independently confirm their evaluation rather than accepting results blindly. Note: any change in marks after re-evaluation is reflected only when the original marksheet/certificate is surrendered to the board, after which CBSE issues a revised marksheet.
