In a major development for law aspirants, the Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) has officially postponed the CLAT UG 2026 Third Allotment List, which was originally scheduled for release on February 5, 2026. This decision follows a landmark directive from the Allahabad High Court to revise the undergraduate merit list.
The delay stems from a judicial intervention regarding the CLAT UG 2026 Answer Key. On February 3, a single-judge bench of the Allahabad High Court ruled on a petition (Avneesh Gupta vs. Consortium of NLUs) involving a disputed logical reasoning question.
Disputed Question: Question No. 9 of Booklet C (and corresponding questions in other sets).
The Verdict: The Court found that both Option B and Option D must be treated as correct.
The Revision: The Consortium has been directed to recalculate scores and republish the CLAT UG 2026 merit list within one month.
Seat Protection: Crucially, the court clarified that candidates who secured admissions in Round 1 and Round 2 will not be disturbed by this revision.
The Consortium’s Executive Committee has announced it will challenge the single-judge bench's decision by filing a Special Appeal before a division bench of the Allahabad High Court. While they intend to defend the original final answer key, the counseling for the third round remains deferred until further notice to ensure legal compliance.
Note for Aspirants: The CLAT PG 2026 Third Allotment List was released as scheduled on February 5. Only the Undergraduate (UG) process is currently affected by the postponementImpact on CLAT 2026 Counseling Schedule
Thousands of students awaiting NLU admissions must now wait for the revised CLAT counseling schedule. The updated dates for the third, fourth, and fifth allotment rounds will be notified on the official portal: consortiumofnlus.ac.in.
Once the new allotment list is out, candidates must have the following documents ready for verification:
Academic Proofs: Class 10 & 12 Mark sheets/Scorecards.
Exam Documents: CLAT 2026 Admit Card and Scorecard.
Certificates: Character/Conduct Certificate, Transfer/Migration Certificate.
Category Proofs: Caste Certificate, PwD Certificate, or Domicile Certificate (if applicable).
Others: Supporting documents for EWS, Ex-servicemen, or Defence personnel quotas.
Monitor the Official Website: Keep a close eye on consortiumofnlus.ac.in for the revised merit list.
Verify Rankings: Once the revised list is published, check if your All India Rank (AIR) has shifted.
