In a major development for Class 12 pass-outs who did not appear for or could not secure admission through CUET UG 2026, Delhi University has allowed 11 of its affiliated colleges to admit undergraduate students directly on the basis of Class 12 board examination marks, bypassing CUET scores entirely.
According to a public notice issued by DU's Admission Branch, titled "Undergraduate Admissions 2026-27 based on Class XII Marks (Not CUET)", these colleges have been permitted to fill vacant UG seats through Class 12 merit — offering a second and final opportunity for thousands of aspirants to secure a Delhi University seat this academic year.
The following 11 Delhi University colleges will offer direct UG admission based on Class 12 marks for the 2026–27 session:
Kalindi College
Zakir Husain Delhi College (Evening)
Lakshmibai College
Rajdhani College
Shyama Prasad Mukherji College for Women
P.G.D.A.V. College (Evening)
Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce
Vivekanand College
Shyam Lal College
Aditi Mahavidyalaya
Bhagini Nivedita College
Candidates interested in admission to any of these colleges must contact the respective college directly for details on available courses, application procedure and deadlines, as each college may have its own process for collecting applications and verifying Class 12 marksheets.
This is not a new policy — Delhi University has been using Class 12 marks to fill vacant UG seats after regular CUET-based admission rounds since the UGC permitted this route. Every year, a certain number of seats remain vacant even after multiple rounds of CSAS (Common Seat Allocation System) counselling. Rather than let those seats go unfilled for the entire academic year — which the UGC has flagged as a waste of educational resources — DU fills them through a merit-based process using board marks.
This year, 11 colleges have been identified for this special admission window, a significantly larger number than in previous sessions, suggesting a higher volume of vacant seats across the university system for 2026–27.
This opportunity is open to students who have passed Class 12 (or equivalent) from a recognised board and meet the eligibility criteria for the specific course they wish to apply for at the respective college. Candidates who appeared for CUET UG 2026 but did not secure a seat through the regular CSAS rounds, as well as candidates who did not appear for CUET at all, may be eligible — subject to each college's conditions.
Since this is a college-level direct admission process rather than a centrally coordinated online process, candidates must:
Visit or contact the respective college from the list above directly.
Enquire about the specific UG programmes for which seats are still vacant.
Submit Class 12 marksheet, character certificate, migration certificate and other required documents as specified by the college.
Meet the course-specific minimum percentage criteria set by the college.
Complete any college-level formalities including fee payment within the given deadline.
Candidates are advised not to delay — vacant seat windows close quickly once filled, and no further extension is typically offered once seats are exhausted.
