Delhi University has opened the examination registration window for the 2026-27 session. Undergraduate and postgraduate students must now submit their semester examination form online through the student Samarth portal, accessible from the university's examination website.
Students who miss it are not permitted to appear in the examination for that semester, and DU does not routinely reopen the window on individual request.
Every cycle, a section of students treats the examination form as a formality that runs in the background of their admission. It is not. Admission to a course and registration for a semester examination are two separate processes at DU. Being enrolled does not automatically enter you for the papers.
The form is what generates your roll number and your entry in the examination database. If it is not submitted and verified, you do not appear on the attendance sheet at the centre, regardless of how much of the semester you attended.
Go to the DU examination website and open the student Samarth portal link
Log in with your registered credentials
Verify that your personal details, course, semester and college are displayed correctly
Select your papers for the semester carefully, including any elective, generic elective, SEC, VAC or AEC papers you are enrolled for
Submit the form
Pay the examination fee online through the link provided by your college, department or faculty
Download and save the submitted form and the payment receipt
Save both as PDFs, not screenshots. If a discrepancy arises later, a downloaded confirmation is the document your college examination branch will ask for.
Submission is only half the process. After students submit, colleges, departments and faculties are required to complete confirmation and verification of the examination forms at their end. A form that a student has filled but the college has not verified is an incomplete registration.
This is where most exam-day disasters originate. Check with your college examination branch a few days after submitting to confirm your form has been verified and forwarded. Do not assume silence means success.
The most common and most damaging mistake is a wrong paper selection, particularly with electives. DU's structure under the NEP UGCF framework means a student may be carrying discipline-specific electives, generic electives, skill enhancement courses, value addition courses and ability enhancement courses simultaneously, and each has to be correctly reflected on the form.
A paper selected in error means you sit the wrong examination or find no paper allotted to you at all. A paper omitted means a gap in your credit record that surfaces months later at result time and takes an entire cycle to correct.
Cross-check your selections against your actual enrolment before you submit, not after.
DU has historically extended examination form windows for regular, NCWEB and School of Open Learning students where circumstances warranted, and has separately issued extension notices for specific programmes. But an extension is a university decision announced by notification, not an entitlement, and it is never safe to plan around one.
If the window closes and you have not submitted, approach your college examination branch immediately rather than waiting for an announcement. The remedy, where one exists, runs through the college.
After the registration window closes, the university publishes the examination datesheet, followed by admit cards through the same portal. Both use the same login. Keep your Samarth credentials working and your registered contact details current, because notifications about rescheduling, paper corrections and centre changes are issued through the examination website and the portal rather than individually.
Students should monitor the DU examination website directly. The university issues a high volume of notifications during examination season, including rescheduling notices and paper-specific corrections, and these are published there first.
