GATE 2027 Application Fee: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, the organizing institute for GATE 2027, has confirmed the category-wise application fee on the official website, gate2027.iitm.ac.in. Candidates registering through the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) must pay ₹2,000 per test paper if they belong to the General, OBC-NCL or EWS categories — the same fee applies to foreign national applicants — while female, SC, ST and PwD candidates pay a concessional ₹1,000 per paper during the regular registration window.
The application fee is charged per test paper, so candidates opting for two GATE papers (in an approved combination) must pay the fee for each paper separately. Registering after the regular deadline attracts an additional late fee, and the entire amount is non-refundable once paid. Fee payment is the final step of the GATE 2027 form and, only after successful payment, the application is treated as submitted.
Regular Registration Period: General / OBC-NCL / EWS: ₹2,000 Female / SC / ST / PwD: ₹1,000 Foreign Nationals (Indian centres): ₹2,000
Extended (Late Fee) Period — ₹500 added: General / OBC-NCL / EWS: ₹2,500 Female / SC / ST / PwD: ₹1,500
Note: The fee is per test paper. For a second (approved) paper, the applicable category fee is added again. International examination centres carry a separate fee in US dollars as specified in the notification.
All payments are online only — there is no offline challan or cash option. Candidates can pay the GATE 2027 application fee through: Net Banking Debit Card Credit Card UPI
International Master and Visa cards are also accepted for candidates paying from outside India or at international centres.
The GATE 2027 application fee is non-refundable and non-transferable under any circumstances once the payment is successful. The only exception, as per the GATE conducting body, is when a specific two-paper combination is withdrawn by IIT Madras — in which case the relevant fee may be adjusted or refunded as notified.
