Three candidates from Maharashtra have topped the CA Foundation May 2026 exam:
| All India Rank | Name | City | Marks (out of 400) | Percentage |
| AIR 1 | Sakshi Jain | Nashik | 371 | 92.75% |
| AIR 2 | Ayanabbas Ajani | Chandrapur | 367 | 91.75% |
| AIR 3 | Radha Unmesh Mulay | Pune | 365 | 91.25% |
All three CA Foundation May 2026 toppers hail from Maharashtra, continuing the state's strong recent showing in ICAI's Foundation-level examinations.
Under ICAI's current scheme, the CA Foundation qualifying marks criteria requires candidates to clear both an individual-paper threshold and an aggregate threshold:
| Paper | Subject | Maximum Marks | Minimum Passing Marks |
| Paper 1 | Accounting | 100 | 40 (40%) |
| Paper 2 | Business Laws | 100 | 40 (40%) |
| Paper 3 | Quantitative Aptitude | 100 | 40 (40%) |
| Paper 4 | Business Economics | 100 | 40 (40%) |
| Aggregate | All four papers combined | 400 | 200 (50%) |
Key rules to know:
Candidates must score at least 40% in every individual paper, regardless of how high their aggregate is.
On top of that, the aggregate across all four papers must be 50% or higher.
Scoring 70% or above overall earns the "Passed with Distinction" tag on the scorecard.
Papers 3 and 4 carry negative marking — a quarter of the allotted marks is deducted for every incorrect response in the objective-type questions.
Along with the scorecards, ICAI released the pass percentage for the May 2026 session:
Overall pass percentage: 20.09%
Male candidates' pass rate: 20.88%
Female candidates' pass rate: 19.24%
Total candidates who appeared: 90,217
Historically, CA Foundation pass percentages have stayed in the 15–25% range over the last several sessions, reflecting how demanding this entry-level exam remains for aspiring Chartered Accountants.
Candidates who have cleared the exam are now eligible to register for CA Intermediate, the second level of the Chartered Accountancy course. Those who could not clear this attempt can:
Apply for verification of marks (answer sheet re-check) through ICAI's online portal, typically within 30 days of the result.
Apply for a certified copy of the answer sheet for a more detailed review, by post to ICAI's Joint Secretary (Exams) office along with the prescribed fee.
Start preparing for the CA Foundation September 2026 attempt — the exam form window for this cycle opens July 6, 2026.
