The Indian Army has thrown open the second edition of its flagship student engagement initiative, with Indian Army Internship Programme 2026-27 applications now live for aspirants across engineering, technology, management and mass communication streams. Candidates can register and apply for individual projects through the National Internship Portal at internship.aicte-india.org, with all internship positions based in New Delhi.
The programme, referred to as IAIP 2026-27, has been designed to give students structured, hands-on exposure to the defence technology ecosystem — moving beyond classroom theory into live problem statements linked to operational requirements, emerging technologies and national security priorities.
Application windows for IAIP 2026-27 are not uniform. Each project on the portal carries its own closing date, and a significant number of listings are scheduled to shut between August 1 and August 15, 2026. Several earlier listings have already lapsed. Students who delay registration risk losing access to the most sought-after technology projects, so checking the live status of each project page before applying is essential.
Duration: 75 days in total — 60 days of on-site practical training and office work, followed by a 15-day work-from-home component.
Stipend: Up to Rs 75,000. The amount is released only after the internship is completed successfully and all programme conditions are met. The final figure payable to each intern is linked to overall attendance during the internship period.
Location: New Delhi / NCR.
Accommodation: Not provided. Selected interns must make their own boarding and lodging arrangements in Delhi-NCR.
Application platform: National Internship Portal (internship.aicte-india.org).
Certificate: A certificate of completion is awarded to interns who finish the programme.
The Indian Army has opened internship slots across a broad technology and strategic spread, reflecting the force's push towards indigenous, technology-led modernisation. Domains on offer include:

Step 5: Complete the application form, upload the required documents and submit.
Step 6: Save or download the submitted application for reference.
Multiple applications, one acceptance
Students are permitted to apply to more than one project. However, only a single internship offer can be accepted. Candidates are advised to weigh the offer against their academic stream, technical skill set and long-term career direction before confirming, since accepting one closes the door on the rest.
The Indian Army has stated plainly that IAIP is a learning and mentorship platform, not a recruitment channel. The programme offers supervised project work, mentorship from serving defence professionals and subject matter experts, and exposure to emerging technology use-cases. It does not carry placement assistance, and completion does not guarantee employment with the Indian Army or any associated organisation.
What interns take away is a certificate of completion, demonstrable project experience in a defence-linked environment, and a portfolio credential that carries weight in technology and public-sector hiring cycles.
The programme suits students who want applied exposure in AI, cyber security, robotics, UAV systems, space technology and defence electronics, along with management-side aspirants targeting logistics, HR, FinTech and strategic communication roles. Given that accommodation is self-arranged, candidates based in or near Delhi-NCR — or those able to manage independent stay — are best placed to complete the 60-day on-site component without disruption.
