Indian Army SSC Tech Recruitment 2026: The Directorate General of Recruiting, Indian Army, has released the notification for the Indian Army SSC Tech Recruitment 2026, opening the door for engineering graduates to serve as commissioned officers. A total of 381 vacancies have been announced under the 68th Short Service Commission (Tech) entry — 350 for men and 31 for women — for the course commencing April 2027. Eligible candidates can apply online at joinindianarmy.nic.in, with the registration window opening 8 July 2026 for the women's course and 9 July 2026 for the men's course.
This is one of the most sought-after defence openings for BE/BTech holders precisely because it carries no written screening test — shortlisted applicants go straight to the Services Selection Board (SSB) interview.

The Army has notified 381 total posts — 350 under SSC (Tech) Men and 31 under SSCW (Tech) Women. Vacancies are distributed across engineering disciplines including Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, and Computer Science/IT, and the exact stream-wise split is specified in the detailed notification PDF. Candidates must apply only against the streams (and their accepted equivalents) listed in the official notification — a mismatch between the degree nomenclature and the stream chosen online can lead to cancellation.
Nationality: Candidate must be a citizen of India (or meet the notified conditions for subjects of Nepal/Bhutan and persons of Indian origin).
Age limit: 20 to 27 years as on 1 April 2027. For widows of Armed Forces personnel who died in harness, the upper limit is relaxed to 35 years for SSCW (Non-Tech, Non-UPSC) and SSCW (Tech).
Educational qualification: A Degree in Engineering in one of the prescribed streams — Civil, Computer Science/IT, Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, or an equivalent discipline. Final-year engineering students may apply, provided they submit proof of passing before the stipulated cut-off.
Marital status: Women candidates must be unmarried. Male candidates should confirm the marital-status clause in the detailed notification before applying.

There is no written exam. The Army first shortlists candidates on an engineering branch-wise cut-off based on aggregate marks. Shortlisted candidates are called for the five-day SSB interview, followed by a medical examination. The final all-India merit list is drawn purely from SSB performance against available vacancies, and selected candidates join OTA Chennai as Gentlemen/Lady Cadets for 49 weeks of pre-commission training.
During training, cadets draw a fixed stipend of ₹56,100 per month. On commissioning as a Lieutenant, officers are placed in Pay Level 10 of the 7th CPC matrix, along with Military Service Pay (MSP), dearness allowance, and service allowances — taking the gross package to roughly ₹17–18 lakh per annum at entry, rising with rank and field/technical allowances.
Many aspirants are still searching for the "SSC Tech 67 notification 2026." Note the difference: the 67th SSC Tech entry was for the October 2026 course (applications January–February 2026, now closed). The current cycle — with 381 vacancies and the July 2026 window — is the 68th SSC Tech (Men) / 39th SSCW Tech (Women) entry for the April 2027 course. If you are applying now, this is the notification that concerns you.
