
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has officially released the comprehensive schedule for the JEE Advanced 2026. Aspiring engineers can now mark their calendars for May 17, 2026, when the most prestigious entrance exam for IIT admissions will take place nationwide.
IIT Roorkee has outlined the key milestones for the 2026 cycle. Candidates must track these dates to ensure timely application:

Only the top 2,50,000 qualifiers of the JEE Main 2026 (including all categories) will be eligible to register for the Advanced stage.
Current JEE Main Status: Session 2 is currently underway (April 2 to 8, 2026) across 500+ centers.
The Numbers: Over 13 lakh candidates appeared in Session 1, and 11 lakh+ are appearing in Session 2.
Best of Two: For candidates appearing in both sessions, the NTA will use the best of two NTA scores to determine the final merit list and the JEE Advanced 2026 cutoff.
Expert Note: NTA is expected to announce the minimum cutoff percentile for JEE Advanced alongside the Session 2 results by April 20, 2026.
To sit for the IIT JEE 2026, candidates must satisfy the following five-point criteria:
Performance in JEE Main: Must be within the top 2.5 lakh rank holders.
Age Limit: Candidates should be born on or after October 1, 2001 (5-year relaxation for SC/ST/PwD).
Number of Attempts: A maximum of two attempts in two consecutive years.
Appearance in Class 12: Must have appeared for the 12th board in 2025 or 2026 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
Academic Performance: Minimum 75% aggregate in Class 12 (65% for SC/ST/PwD).
Eligible candidates can apply through the official portal starting April 23.

Details: Update your choice of exam cities (8 options required) and academic info.
Documents: Upload scanned copies of Class 10, Class 12 certificates, and Category certificates (if applicable).
Payment: Complete the registration by paying the application fee online.
