The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued an updated set of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) for the JEE Main 2026 examination, covering key points related to application, eligibility, exam pattern, documents, fees, and candidate support. The document consolidates all major queries raised by students and clarifies the procedures to be followed for both Session 1 and Session 2. Check the official FAQ PDF here.

Exam Dates

The exam is scheduled in two sessions:

  • Session 1: January 21–30, 2026

  • Session 2: April 2–9, 2026

1. Website and Helpline for JEE Main 2026 

The application form is available at the official NTA JEE website. Helpline support is provided via 011-40759000 and the official email ID.

2. Exam Schedule for JEE Main 2026 ?

The examination will be held in January and April 2026 as part of its two-session structure.

3. Registration Process for JEE Main 2026

Instructions for filling out the application form are included in the Information Bulletin. A sample form is provided in Appendix IX.

4. Separate Applications for Each Session for JEE Main 2026

Candidates must apply separately for Session 1 and Session 2. The Session 2 application window will open later.

5. Eligibility to Apply for Session 2 for JEE Main 2026 ?

Students who do not register for Session 1 can still apply for Session 2 when the portal opens.

6. Whether Both Sessions Are Mandatory for JEE Main 2026 ?

Appearing in both sessions is optional. If a candidate attempts both, the better NTA score will be used for ranking.

7. Can we use Calculators for JEE Main 2026 ?

Calculators of any form are not allowed in the exam.

8. Registration Number to Enter

CBSE students must use the registration number mentioned in the CBSE letters dated October 30 and November 4, 2025. Other board students may use their respective registration or roll numbers.

9. Validity of DigiLocker Documents

DigiLocker documents are accepted for upload.

10. Class 12 Improvement Candidates

Students improving Class 12 marks must select the option “Passed.”

11. What is the Eligibility Criteria for JEE Main 2026 ?

Students are required to refer to Chapter 3 of the Information Bulletin for eligibility and qualifications.

12. Exam Pattern

The exam pattern is laid out in Para 2.4 of Chapter 2 of the Information Bulletin.

13. State Code of Eligibility

Details are available under Para 3.4 of the bulletin.

14. PIN Code for Foreign Candidates

OCI/PIO candidates must enter 111111 in the PIN code field.

15. OTP Issues During Aadhaar Verification

Candidates must ensure that the mobile number linked to Aadhaar is active and accessible.

16. Name Mismatch Between Aadhaar and Class 10 Marks

A name mismatch will not affect eligibility.

17. APAAR ID Requirement

APAAR ID is not mandatory.

18. Live Photograph Capture

Instructions for capturing the live photograph are provided under Step 2 of the application process.

19. Photograph Mismatch

Any mismatch between the Aadhaar photo and the live photo will be reviewed by NTA. Major issues will be communicated to candidates.

20. PwD/PwBD Eligibility and Certificates

Candidates must follow instructions of the RPwD Act and related guidelines issued by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.

21. UDID Card Verification

The method is mentioned under Note 3 of the application procedure.

22. Use of Scribe

Guidelines are provided in Chapter 4. Required details in the undertaking form must be filled except exam-centre details, which will be entered at the centre.

23. Basis for Choice of Cities

Information is available in Para 5.1 of the bulletin.

24. Medium of Question Paper

Details are given in Para 2.2 of the bulletin.

25. Uploading Category Certificate

Uploading the certificate is not required. Only certificate number, issue date, and issuing authority must be filled.

26. Submitting Documents to NTA

No documents, including confirmation pages, are to be sent to NTA physically.

27. Exam Date Clash

NTA will not change exam dates in case of clashes with any national or state examinations.

28. Allotment of Exam Date and Slot

A computer system randomly assigns the date and shift.

29. Correction of Application Particulars

A one-time correction facility will be provided for selected fields.

30. Cancelling Application Form

Submitted application forms cannot be cancelled or withdrawn.

31. Non-receipt of Admit Card

Admit cards must be downloaded from the official website. For help, candidates can contact the NTA helpline numbers.

32. Change of Exam Centre

Exam centres cannot be changed once allotted.

33. Items Allowed at Exam Centre

34. Leaving Exam Hall Early

Candidates cannot leave before the exam time ends.

36. Negative Marking

Negative marking rules are also in Para 2.4.

39. Whether Fee Includes Service Charges

Service charges of the payment gateway are not included in the application fee.

40. Payment Methods

41. Payment Failure

If the confirmation page is not generated, candidates should pay the fee again. Extra payments will be refunded.

42. Confirmation Page and Scorecard Delivery

Both will be sent to the registered email ID of the candidate and parents.
