
In a significant update for engineering aspirants, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially announced the postponement of the JEE Main 2026 Session 1 exam originally scheduled for January 23, 2026, specifically for candidates appearing at centers in West Bengal.
The decision comes after the NTA received numerous representations from students and the State Education Department regarding the clash with Saraswati Puja and the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, both of which fall on January 23.

Reason for Postponement: Celebration of Saraswati Puja and Netaji Jayanti in West Bengal.
Affected Candidates: Only those appearing in West Bengal centers on Jan 23.
New Exam Date: NTA will reassign these candidates to other dates within the JEE Main 2026 Session 1 window (Jan 21–29).
Revised Schedule: To be released shortly on the official website: jeemain.nta.nic.in.
