The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2026 session 2 is one of the most awaited engineering entrance exams in India. Conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), the exam serves as a gateway for admission to B.Tech and B.E. programs in NITs, IIITs, and other top engineering institutes.
To help candidates plan, the NTA releases a city intimation slip before the exam. This slip informs candidates about the city where their exam center will be located, allowing them to make travel and accommodation arrangements. While the official release date is not confirmed, it is expected around the week of March 2026.
The JEE Main 2026 city slip is expected to be released either this week or by the last week of March, giving candidates their exam center details ahead of the scheduled sessions. Students can access and download the city slip from the official website jeemain.nta.nic.in using their application credentials. The slip will contain important information such as the exam city, session, date, and instructions to be followed on the exam day, helping candidates plan their travel and preparation accordingly.
The JEE Main 2026 session 2 exam is scheduled to be held from April 2 to April 9, 2026, in a computer-based format. Candidates will have two exam shifts:
Morning Shift: 9:00 AM – 12:00 Noon
Afternoon Shift: 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM
The shift and exam center details will be available in the admit card, while the city slip provides the exam city.

Many candidates often confuse the JEE Main 2026 city slip with the admit card, but they serve different purposes. The city slip is released earlier and only mentions the exam city allotted to the candidate, helping in planning travel and accommodation. On the other hand, the admit card is released closer to the exam date and contains complete details such as the candidate’s name, exam center address, date, shift, reporting time, and instructions. While the city slip is useful for logistical preparation, the admit card is mandatory for entry into the examination hall, and candidates cannot take the exam without it.
Plan travel and accommodation, especially if your exam city is different from your hometown.
Keep a digital and physical copy of the city slip for reference.
Regularly check the official JEE Main website for updates on the admit card release.
Ensure all personal details in the city slip match your JEE application. Any discrepancy should be reported to NTA immediately.
