KEA Revises Civil Police Constable Exam Timing for August 2, 2026 — Kalyana Karnataka Cadre Candidates Get New Shift Schedule

The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has announced a revision to the written examination timing for Civil Police Constable recruitment under the Kalyana Karnataka (371-J) cadre. The change applies specifically to the afternoon shift scheduled for August 2, 2026, and comes after candidates flagged practical difficulties in the original timetable.

This update is relevant to lakhs of applicants tracking the KSP Constable Recruitment 2026 exam, one of the largest police hiring drives in the state this year, covering 3,991 total Civil Police Constable vacancies across the Kalyana Karnataka and General cadres.

What Changed: Old Timing vs Revised Timing

Detail Earlier Schedule Revised Schedule
Cadre Kalyana Karnataka (371-J) Kalyana Karnataka (371-J)
Exam Date August 2, 2026 August 2, 2026 (unchanged)
Afternoon Shift Timing 2:30 PM – 4:00 PM 4:00 PM – 5:30 PM
Morning Shift Timing As per hall ticket No change
Duration 1.5 hours 1.5 hours (unchanged)

Why KEA Revised the Timing

According to KEA's notice, a number of candidates raised concerns about the distance and travel time between morning and afternoon examination centres in certain districts. Given the tight one-hour gap in the original schedule, several applicants said it would not be feasible to reach the afternoon centre in time. KEA reviewed these representations and pushed the afternoon shift back by 90 minutes to give candidates a realistic travel window.

Importantly, this revision is limited to the timing of the afternoon shift only. No other part of the June 5, 2026 recruitment notification — including exam pattern, syllabus, marks, or vacancy distribution — has been altered.

KSP Civil Police Constable Exam Pattern (Kalyana Karnataka Cadre)

  • Mode: Offline, OMR-based objective test

  • Total Questions: 100

  • Total Marks: 100

  • Negative Marking: 0.25 marks deducted per wrong answer

  • Subjects Covered: General Knowledge, General Science, Geography, History, Indian Constitution, Indian National Movement, Mental Ability, General Studies, and Moral Education

What Candidates Should Do Now

  • Check the official KEA portal (cetonline.karnataka.gov.in/kea) for the updated hall ticket reflecting the revised shift timing.

  • Plan travel between exam centres based on the new 4:00 PM reporting slot rather than the earlier 2:30 PM slot.

  • Carry a printed hall ticket along with a valid original photo ID (Aadhaar, Voter ID, Driving Licence, or PAN) — digital copies are typically not accepted at the centre.

  • Continue to monitor the KEA website for any further shift-specific updates, since this notice covers only the Kalyana Karnataka cadre afternoon paper.
