The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), one of India's largest and most prestigious school networks operating under the Ministry of Education, has officially launched the online admission process for Class I and Balvatika for the academic year 2026-27. The registration window opens today, March 20, 2026, and will remain active until April 2, 2026. No applications will be entertained after this deadline under any circumstances, KVS has confirmed.

Parents and guardians can submit applications on behalf of their children by visiting the official portal kvsangathan.nic.in, filling in the required information, uploading the necessary supporting documents, and paying the prescribed application fee online.

 Important: "Reckoning of age for all Classes shall be as on 31.03.2026," as per the official KVS admission notice. Parents must verify their child's age carefully before applying.

KVS Admission 2026-27: Age Criteria for All Classes

The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan has prescribed a minimum and maximum age limit for admission to each class. All ages are reckoned as on March 31, 2026.

Special Note on Class I Eligibility: A child must be 6 years old for Class I as on March 31 in the academic year in which admission is sought. Importantly, children born on April 1 must also be considered eligible as per the official KVS admission guideline.

KVS Balvatika Admission 2026-27: Age Eligibility

KVS Balvatika is a pre-primary programme offered at selected Kendriya Vidyalayas across India. The age criteria for all three Balvatika levels, reckoned as on March 31, 2026, are as follows:

Online admissions for Balvatika are being conducted at selected Kendriya Vidyalayas only. For Balvatika-2 and Balvatika-3 at KVs where online admissions are not being held, applications will be accepted in offline mode from April 2 to April 8, 2026.

The application process for Class I KVS Admission 2026-27 is conducted entirely in online mode through the official KVS portal. Follow these steps carefully to complete your child's registration before the April 2 deadline:

Step 1: Visit the official website — kvsangathan.nic.in — the only authorised portal for KVS admissions.

Step 2: On the homepage, locate the KVS Admission 2026-27 registration link and click on it.

Step 3: Complete registration by filling in the basic details of the child — name, date of birth, parent's name, contact information, and preferred KV.

Step 4: Log in to the portal using the credentials (username and password) generated during registration.

Step 5: Carefully fill out the complete application form with accurate and verifiable details.

Step 6: Upload all necessary supporting documents, including the child's birth certificate and other relevant eligibility documents.

Step 7: Pay the prescribed application fee online through the available payment gateway.

Step 8: Click the final submit button, then download and print the confirmation slip for your records.

KVS Offline Registration 2026 — Class II and Above

For parents seeking admission to classes beyond Class I, KVS has announced a separate offline registration window. As per the official KVS notice:

"Registration for fresh admissions to Balvatika-2 & 3 (where online admissions are not taking place), Class II and above (except Class XI), will start from 02.04.2026 at 10:00 am to 08.04.2026 up to 04:00 pm, if vacancies exist, in offline mode only. The duly filled form needs to be submitted to the office of the Principal in the respective KV."
