Students applying under the Special Scholarship category must satisfy these requirements:

Self-study courses such as Chartered Accountancy (CA), Company Secretary (CS) and Cost and Management Accountancy (ICMAI) are excluded.
Students receiving scholarships from other trusts or institutions are generally not eligible. Government scholarships are permitted under the scheme's conditions.
Selection is based on merit. If candidates have equal marks, preference is given to the candidate whose parents have a lower income.
Candidates should read the official LIC Golden Jubilee Scholarship Scheme 2026 document for the complete eligibility conditions.
Students who want to compare scholarship opportunities offered through different programmes can also explore PWNSAT 2026 scholarship opportunities and rewards. The eligibility and benefits of that programme are different from those of the LIC scholarship.
The scholarship amount depends on the course pursued by the selected candidate.
| Scholarship category | Eligible course | Scholarship amount per year |
| General Scholarship | Medicine, including MBBS, BAMS, BHMS and BDS | ₹50,000 |
| General Scholarship | Engineering, including BE, BTech and BArch | ₹40,000 |
| General Scholarship | Graduation, integrated courses, diploma and eligible vocational courses | ₹20,000 |

The scholarship is payable in two instalments per year, subject to the scheme's conditions. The amount is transferred to the selected student's bank account through NEFT.
The first instalment becomes due upon selection. For the second instalment, candidates must submit the result of the first-semester examination or the required attendance certificate, depending on the institution's examination system.
The scheme allocates scholarships through LIC's Divisional Offices. According to the 2026 notification, each Divisional Office will select 120 candidates across both categories.
| Category | Scholarships per Division |
| General Scholarship after Class 12/Diploma | 80 |
| Special Scholarship after Class 10 | 40 |
| Total | 120 |
The General Scholarship category has 40 places for male candidates and 40 for female candidates. The Special Scholarship category has 20 places for boys and 20 for girls. Gender-wise allocations may be adjusted if there are insufficient eligible candidates in a category.
Selection is based on academic merit and the eligibility conditions. In the event of a tie in marks, candidates from families with lower annual income receive preference.
