The State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell, Maharashtra, has released the MHT CET CAP 2026 information brochure for the 2026-27 academic session, and it carries the most significant eligibility overhaul in years. For the first time, candidates can use their MHT CET 2026 PCM or PCB group score to apply for BBA, BMS, BBM and BCA programmes — and the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) has been widened to include direct third year and direct fourth year admissions.
The updated brochure is available for download on the official portal, cetcell.mahacet.org, where the CAP 2026-27 admission cycle for technical courses is already underway.
Under the revised eligibility rules, Maharashtra State candidates seeking admission to BBA, BMS, BBM and BCA can now apply using either of the following:
The MAH-BCA/BBA/BMS/BBM CET 2026 score, or
The MHT CET 2026 (PCM or PCB group) score.
This is a meaningful shift. Until now, aspirants for these undergraduate management and computer-application courses were expected to rely on the dedicated MAH-BCA/BBA/BMS/BBM CET. By recognising MHT CET's PCM and PCB scores, the CET Cell effectively gives science-stream students a second, ready-made pathway into business and BCA programmes — without appearing for an additional entrance test.
For All India candidates, admission will be based on CUET UG, MAH-BCA/BBA/BMS/BBM CET 2026, or MHT CET 2026, with priority given to a valid, non-zero CUET UG score wherever applicable. In practice, this widens options for outside-Maharashtra aspirants while keeping CUET at the top of the preference order.
The second headline change is structural. Earlier CAP brochures covered first year and direct second year admissions only. The 2026-27 brochure extends the framework to include direct third year and direct fourth year admissions as well.
Alongside this, the brochure now recognises additional qualifications — including the Under Graduate Certificate and B.Voc. — for eligible lateral-entry admissions in engineering and technology programmes, wherever such entry is permitted.
The sanctioned intake section has been updated to reflect this expansion. Seat calculations will now apply across first year and direct 2nd / 3rd / 4th year (lateral entry) admissions.
Adding direct third and fourth year entry to the CAP framework does not mean any candidate can jump straight to those levels. These routes are open only for programmes where lateral entry is permitted under the Maharashtra Government's admission rules.
Candidates targeting BBA, BMS, BBM, BCA or any lateral-entry programme should read the detailed eligibility conditions in the CAP 2026 brochure carefully before registering. General academic eligibility for these UG programmes typically requires a Class 12 pass with the minimum aggregate specified by the affiliating university and a non-zero score in the accepted entrance test (relaxations apply for reserved categories per the brochure).
The CET Cell has already opened CAP 2026-27 registration and document verification for its technical streams on cetcell.mahacet.org, and the BBA/BMS/BBM/BCA process runs on the same portal. Candidates should:
Download and read the MHT CET CAP 2026 information brochure in full.
Confirm which score (MHT CET PCM/PCB, MAH-BCA/BBA/BMS/BBM CET, or CUET UG) applies to their candidature type.
Keep documents ready — Class 12 marksheet, CET scorecard, domicile/category certificates, and Aadhaar/APAAR details as required.
Register on time and complete document verification (E-Scrutiny or Physical Scrutiny) within the official window.
Track only the official portal, cetcell.mahacet.org, for the exact BBA/BCA CAP schedule and merit-list dates.
The net effect of the 2026 changes: more flexibility in choosing which entrance score to use, and additional admission pathways — a streamlined CAP that opens management and BCA seats to a much larger pool of applicants.
