NEET UG Re-Exam 2026 Date Is June 21 — Admit Card on June 14, City Slip by May 31: Education Minister Confirms Full Schedule; NEET Goes CBT From 2027

The wait is nearly over. India's Union Education Minister has officially confirmed that the NEET UG Re-Exam 2026 Admit Card will be released by June 14, 2026, and the re-examination itself will be held on June 21, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM IST in offline pen-and-paper mode across centres in India and abroad. The NTA City Intimation Slip — the first document in this chain — is expected by May 31, 2026, on the official portal neet.nta.nic.in.

This is no longer speculation. These are confirmed dates from the highest level of India's education establishment. If you are among the lakhs of candidates appearing for the re-exam, this is the only timeline you need to follow.

And buried inside the official announcements is a detail that changes Indian medical entrance history: NEET UG will shift to Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode from next year onwards, ending decades of pen-and-paper exams — a direct response to the paper leak and irregularities that triggered this very re-examination.

Why Is the NEET UG Re-Exam 2026 Being Held?

The NEET UG Re-Exam 2026 is being conducted after the earlier examination was cancelled following serious allegations of paper leak and administrative irregularities. In response, the Union Education Ministry ordered a fresh examination with strengthened security protocols. Crucially, no fresh registration is required and no additional examination fee will be charged — all registration data, candidature details, and exam centre preferences from the May 2026 cycle have been carried forward automatically.

City Intimation Slip vs Admit Card: Do Not Confuse These Two Documents

One of the most common mistakes NEET candidates make every year is treating the City Intimation Slip and the Admit Card as the same document. They are not.

The City Intimation Slip is released first and tells you only the city where your exam centre is located. It does not carry the full exam centre address, roll number, or reporting instructions. Its primary purpose is to help you plan travel and accommodation in advance.

The Admit Card, released later on June 14, is the actual hall ticket. It carries your name, roll number, complete exam centre address with reporting time, photograph, signature, and all exam-day instructions. Entry into the examination hall without the printed admit card is not permitted under any circumstances.

NEET UG 2026 Fee Refund: Deadline June 22, Over 13 Lakh Have Already Applied

The NTA has extended the NEET fee refund facility deadline to June 22, 2026. Over 13 lakh candidates have already submitted their bank details. Failure to do so may result in losing your refund.

The Big Picture: NEET Goes CBT From 2027 — What It Means for Future Aspirants

Officials have indicated that NEET-UG will be conducted in computer-based test (CBT) mode from next year onwards to prevent such irregularities. This is a landmark shift in India's medical entrance examination history. For students currently in Class 11, preparation strategy will need to include digital test-taking skills alongside subject mastery. For the June 21, 2026 re-exam, however, the format remains offline pen-and-paper.
