The clock has effectively run out for thousands of NIFT aspirants holding a Round 2 provisional seat.
The National Institute of Fashion Technology has kept the willingness submission and admission fee payment window open only until 11:59 PM tonight, July 9, 2026. Once the portal locks, there is no reopening, no grace period and no email-based appeal. A seat left unpaid is a seat surrendered.
For a candidate who has cleared the NIFT entrance examination, survived the Situation Test or GD/PI round, ranked on the Common Merit List and finally seen a campus name appear on screen, the remaining task is administrative — and it takes less than fifteen minutes. Yet every counselling cycle, a measurable number of seats fall vacant purely because candidates assumed the deadline was "sometime this week."
If you have been allotted a seat in NIFT Seat Allotment Round 2, treat this as your final reminder.

This is the single most searched question today, so let us answer it without hedging.
Your seat is cancelled. It does not remain "on hold." It does not roll into Round 3 in your name. It is released back into the seat matrix and offered to the next eligible candidate on the merit list.
Worse, the consequence is not limited to losing one campus. According to the official notification, a candidate who does not remit the fee within the stipulated window forfeits participation in the subsequent regular rounds of counselling as well. That means Round 3 — scheduled for July 15 — closes to you.
The only remaining door would be the Spot Round, which offers whatever is left over, typically the least-preferred campus–programme combinations, and carries no guarantee whatsoever.
Fifteen minutes of paperwork versus a lost admission year. The arithmetic is not close.
Step 1 — Registration and Choice Filling. Candidates register on the counselling portal and lock their preferred campus and programme combinations in order of priority.
Step 2 — Document Upload. Category certificates, qualifying examination records and identity proof are uploaded for scrutiny.
Step 3 — Pay the Seat Acceptance Fee. After allotment, the candidate submits willingness and remits the prescribed admission fee online.
Step 4 — Document and Fee Verification. The allotted campus or the central committee verifies uploaded records against the fee transaction.
Step 5 — Receive the NIFT 2026 Allotment Letter. The provisional allotment letter is generated and must be downloaded and preserved for physical reporting.

Click the link titled "Round 2 Seat Allotment Result for NIFT UG / UG Lateral / PG Counselling 2026."
Log in using your Application Number and Password.
Your allotted campus and programme appear on screen.
Select your willingness option — Freeze, Float or Slide.
Proceed to Pay Admission Fee through the online gateway (net banking, UPI, debit/credit card).
Wait for the transaction to reflect. Do not refresh mid-payment.
Download the NIFT Provisional Allotment Letter and save a PDF plus a printout.
Retain the payment receipt with transaction ID.
This choice is irreversible for the round, and it determines whether you remain in contention for an upgrade.
Freeze — You accept the allotted campus and programme as final. Candidates who select Freeze cannot upgrade or change the allotted seat in later rounds.
Float — You accept the seat but remain eligible for a higher-preference campus or programme in subsequent rounds.
Slide — You accept the seat but remain eligible for a higher-preference programme at the same campus.
Pick Freeze only if the allotment already matches your top realistic preference. If a better campus genuinely matters to you, Float keeps that door open — and your current seat stays safe in the meantime.
Candidates who have decided against continuing with the NIFT admission process can exercise the withdrawal option on the same portal, and that window too shuts tonight at 11:59 PM. Withdrawal is governed by NIFT's published refund policy, and the refund quantum depends on the stage at which the seat is surrendered.
Read the refund clause on the official notification before clicking. Withdrawal, once confirmed, cannot be reversed.
For candidates who paid on time and opted for Float or Slide, the counselling calendar continues.
Round 3 choice filling is scheduled from July 11 to July 13, 2026, with the Round 3 seat allotment result to be announced on July 15, 2026.
Thereafter, the Spot Round registration and participation fee payment window is expected to run from July 19 to July 22, 2026, with Spot Round seat allotment on July 24, 2026 and physical reporting at the allotted campus on July 29, 2026.
Candidates who were not allotted a seat in Round 2 need take no special action — they are automatically considered in the subsequent rounds, subject to registration and eligibility.
