In addition, they must hold at least a two-year Diploma or Certificate in Physical Education, or a Degree in Physical Education such as D.P.Ed, C.P.Ed, or an equivalent qualification recognised by the competent authority.
Age Limit:
The eligible age for applicants ranges from 18 to 37 years as of the cut-off date prescribed in the official notification. Age relaxation will be provided to candidates belonging to reserved categories as per Punjab government norms.
The selection of candidates for the PTI (Primary Cadre) posts will be carried out through the following stages:
Punjabi Language Test – A qualifying test in which candidates must secure at least 50% marks.
Physical Eligibility Test (PET) – Qualifying in nature, consisting of multiple physical events; candidates generally need to clear a minimum number of events to proceed further.
Written Examination – An objective-type test with no negative marking, based on which merit will primarily be determined.
Document Verification and Medical Examination – Final stages before appointment, to verify eligibility, category claims, and physical fitness.
Final selection will be based on a combined merit list prepared from the written test score along with weightage for sports achievements, as specified in the detailed notification.
Eligible candidates can apply online by following the steps below:
Visit the official website — erd.punjab.gov.in.
Click on the notification link for PTI (Primary Cadre) Recruitment 2026.
Register using a valid email ID and mobile number.
Fill in the online application form with personal, educational, and category-related details.
Upload the required photograph, signature, and supporting documents as per specifications.

Review the form carefully and click Submit.
Download and print the confirmation page for future reference.
Candidates should note that the application fee, once paid, is generally non-refundable, including in cases of an incorrect category-based fee concession claim — and such incorrect claims can even lead to debarment from future ERD Punjab recruitments for a specified period. Applicants are strongly advised to verify their category, qualification, and other eligibility details carefully before final submission.
Ex-servicemen and their dependents seeking fee relaxation must submit the applicable certificates, including a Lineal Descendant Certificate (LDC) for dependents, at the time of document verification.
Candidates should keep scanned copies of all educational certificates, category certificates, and identity proof ready before starting the application, since the process cannot be saved midway on some government portals.
Aspirants are advised to regularly check the official ERD Punjab website for updates regarding the exact application timeline, admit card, exam pattern, and any amendments to the notification, since recruitment schedules on government portals are occasionally revised.
This recruitment offers a significant opportunity for diploma and degree holders in physical education to secure a stable government teaching position in Punjab's primary education system.
