RRB Group D Exam 2026 Today: Check Shift Timings, Exam Day Guidelines, Difficulty Level and Remaining Dates

RRB Group D 2026: The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) is conducting the Group D Computer Based Test (CBT) for CEN 09/2025 today, August 18, 2026, in three shifts at centres across the country. The recruitment drive, one of the largest in India this year, is being held to fill 22,195 vacancies for Level 1 posts including Track Maintainer, Pointsman, Assistant, Assistant Loco Shed, Assistant Operations, and Assistant TL & AC.

As per the revised schedule, the CBT is being conducted on August 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21 and 25, 2026 — a total of 16 exam days. With today's shifts underway, only four exam days now remain (August 19, 20, 21 and 25).

Candidates who have passed Class 10/ITI and are between 18 and 33 years of age were eligible to apply, and the selection process comprises the CBT, Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Document Verification, and Medical Examination.

RRB Group D Exam 2026: Shift Timings Today

The CBT is being held in three shifts of 90 minutes each. Shift 1 runs from 9 AM to 10:30 AM, Shift 2 from 12:45 PM to 2:15 PM, and Shift 3 from 4:30 PM to 6 PM. Candidates must reach the exam centre well before the gate-closing time printed on their admit card, as entry is not permitted after the gates close.

Documents to Carry to the Exam Centre

Candidates appearing today and in the remaining shifts must carry:

  • A printed copy of the RRB Group D admit card (e-call letter) downloaded from the official RRB portal.

  • A valid original government photo ID — Aadhaar, PAN, Voter ID, Passport, or Driving Licence.

  • Recent passport-size photographs as per the specifications in the admit card instructions.

Electronic devices, calculators, watches, and study material are strictly prohibited inside the exam hall. Admit cards for the remaining dates are being released phase-wise, roughly four days before each candidate's exam date, on the candidate login portal.

RRB Group D 2026: Exam Pattern

The CBT carries 100 questions to be attempted in 90 minutes, covering four sections — General Science, Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, and General Awareness & Current Affairs. There is negative marking of one-third mark for each wrong answer, and the paper is of Class 10 level. There is no sectional time limit, allowing candidates to manage time flexibly across sections.

RRB Group D Exam Analysis: Difficulty Trend So Far

Based on candidate feedback from the shifts held since August 3, the overall difficulty level of the paper has remained easy to moderate. Reasoning has been considered scoring and less time-consuming, while Maths has featured lengthy, calculation-based questions. General Science has been manageable with a mix of basic and moderate questions, and Current Affairs has formed an important part of the General Awareness section. Good attempts across shifts have generally ranged between 72 and 85, depending on the shift's difficulty.

Candidates appearing in the remaining shifts should prioritise accuracy in Maths and Reasoning, revise Class 10 NCERT Science topics, and stay updated on recent current affairs.

What After the CBT?

Candidates who qualify the CBT will be shortlisted for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET), which is qualifying in nature, with around three times the number of vacancies called. This will be followed by Document Verification and a Medical Examination. The normalised scores and cutoff will be released after all 48 shifts conclude on August 25, followed by the answer key and objection window on the official regional RRB websites.
