Applicants must hold a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognised university or an equivalent qualification approved by the Central Government. Students in the final year or final semester may also apply, but if shortlisted, must submit proof of passing on or before 30 September 2026.
Candidates should be between 21 and 30 years of age as on 1 April 2026. Reserved-category candidates receive age relaxation as per Government of India norms. On attempts, general and EWS candidates can appear a maximum of 6 times, while OBC candidates get up to 9 attempts (SC/ST have no attempt cap within the age limit).
Candidates are selected through a three-stage process — the Preliminary Examination, the Main Examination, and Phase III comprising a Psychometric Test, Group Exercise and Interview. The Prelims is tentatively scheduled for August 2026 and the Mains for September 2026, with official dates to be confirmed on the admit card.
The starting basic pay for an SBI PO is ₹48,480 (plus four advance increments), and the approximate CTC at the Mumbai centre is around ₹21.97 lakh per annum, including allowances such as DA, HRA, CCA and other benefits. Selected candidates must execute a bond of ₹2 lakh to serve the bank for a minimum of three years. This makes SBI PO one of the highest-paying officer-grade banking jobs in India in 2026.
