In one of Telangana's largest uniformed-services hiring drives of the year, the Telangana State Level Police Recruitment Board (TSLPRB) has secured government permission to fill 7,437 vacancies through direct recruitment. The clearance covers Sub-Inspectors, Assistant Sub-Inspectors, Reserve Sub-Inspectors, Police Constables, and equivalent posts spanning the Police Department, the Fire Disaster Response Emergency & Civil Defence Department, the Prisons & Correctional Services Department, and the Special Protection Force (SPF).
The approval was formalised through a press note dated 5th July 2026, with detailed recruitment notifications expected to be issued shortly. Aspirants preparing for a Telangana Police job should treat this as the starting gun — but note that, at this stage, only the vacancy count and departments have been confirmed. Post-wise notifications carrying eligibility, age limits, fees and exam dates will follow once each department finalises its cadre distribution.
The scale of this drive is driven by a manpower gap. Nearly 14,553 police personnel and staff retired between 2024 and early 2026, leaving posts open across constable-to-inspector ranks and prompting the state to authorise a fresh, large-volume intake to shore up law enforcement across Telangana.

Quick-scan angle (the number most aspirants care about): across all departments, the drive offers roughly 6,180 Constable-level posts and about 244 officer-level posts (SI + RSI + ASI). Police Constable (Civil), with 3,697 vacancies, is the single largest post, making this an unusually strong year for 12th-pass candidates.
The exact process will be defined in each post's notification. Based on TSLPRB's earlier cycles for identical posts, candidates can expect a multi-stage funnel:
Preliminary Written Test (PWT): Objective questions on General Studies, Arithmetic, Reasoning and Telangana-specific topics.
Physical Measurement Test (PMT): Height and chest (where applicable).
Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Running and event-based tests. For reference, in recent SI cycles male candidates had to complete 1.6 km within 7 minutes 15 seconds, and female candidates 800 metres within 5 minutes 20 seconds.
Final Written Examination: For posts that require it, such as Sub-Inspector.
Document Verification & Medical Examination.
For officer posts, the written exam is typically offered in English, Telugu and Urdu, with qualifying marks around 40% for OC, 35% for BC and 30% for SC/ST/Ex-servicemen.
While exact pay bands appear in the notification, indicatively pay scales range from around Level 3 (approx. ₹25,000) for Constable to Level 6 (approx. ₹80,000) for Sub-Inspector under the 7th CPC, plus admissible allowances.
