UGC NET June 2026 Re-Exam: Admit Card Out for English, Commerce and Sociology — Exam on September 9 and 10

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the admit card for the UGC-NET June 2026 re-examination, which is being conducted for three subjects — English, Commerce and Sociology. According to the schedule, English and Commerce will be held on September 9, 2026, and Sociology on September 10, 2026, in computer-based test (CBT) mode. Candidates appearing in the re-exam can download their hall tickets from the official website, ugcnet.nta.nic.in, using their login credentials.

Why is UGC NET being re-conducted?

The NTA announced the re-conduct after it received several complaints about multiple errors in the question papers of these three subjects during the earlier examination. An expert committee constituted by the NTA examined the complaints — which reportedly involved factual, typographical, translation, grammatical and other errors — and recommended re-conducting the affected papers to ensure a fair and error-free examination. The re-exam therefore applies only to candidates who appeared in English, Commerce or Sociology.

UGC NET June 2026 re-exam dates and shifts

As per the schedule and reports, the papers are spread across two days:

  • English: September 9, 2026 — morning shift (9:00 AM to 12:00 noon)

  • Commerce: September 9, 2026 — afternoon shift (3:00 PM to 6:00 PM)

  • Sociology: September 10, 2026 — morning shift (9:00 AM to 12:00 noon)

Important: candidates must confirm their exact date, shift and timing from their own admit card, which carries the individual, authoritative details for each candidate.

UGC NET re-exam admit card: release and download

The NTA released the re-exam admit card on September 4, 2026. Candidates should download the fresh admit card specific to the September re-examination rather than relying on any document issued for the earlier exam. To download:

  1. Visit the official website, ugcnet.nta.nic.in.

  2. Click the UGC NET re-exam admit card link on the homepage.

  3. On the login page, enter your application number, date of birth (or password) and the security PIN.

  4. Submit to view the admit card.

  5. Download and print the hall ticket, and read all instructions carefully.

What to check on the admit card

Candidates should verify their name, roll number, application number, photograph and signature, along with the exam date, shift, reporting time and examination centre name and address. Any discrepancy should be raised with the NTA as per the instructions on the official site.

No extra fee, no negative marking

Candidates appearing for the re-examination do not have to pay any additional examination fee. UGC NET also has no negative marking — each correct answer carries 2 marks, and no marks are deducted for incorrect or unattempted questions.

What to carry on exam day

Candidates must carry a printed copy of the admit card and a valid photo ID proof to the examination centre; documents are checked before entry. Applicants are advised to reach the centre on time and follow the reporting-time instructions printed on the hall ticket.

What is UGC NET for?

UGC-NET, conducted by the NTA on behalf of the University Grants Commission, determines eligibility for the award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), appointment as Assistant Professor, and admission to PhD programmes — making these papers important for candidates pursuing academic and research careers.

What happens after the re-exam

Following the re-examination, the NTA will process the results for the affected subjects as part of the UGC-NET June 2026 cycle. Candidates should keep checking ugcnet.nta.nic.in for updates on answer keys, results and any further notices.
