Candidates who appeared for the UGC NET June 2026 exam can now check their qualifying status and download their scorecard from the official website. Along with the result, NTA has also released the UGC NET June 2026 final answer key and the subject-wise, category-wise cut-off marks.
Candidates of English, Commerce, and Sociology will not find their result in today's release. An NTA-appointed committee identified multiple factual, typographical, translation, and grammatical errors in these three papers, and the exams were re-conducted separately on September 9 and 10, 2026. Candidates from these subjects may see an "Invalid Application Number/Password" error if they try to log in — NTA has clarified this does not indicate a credentials issue; their result will follow after the re-exam evaluation.

Cut-off marks are declared separately for Unreserved, OBC-NCL, EWS, SC, ST, and respective PwD sub-categories, and vary by subject. There is no single, uniform UGC NET qualifying score.
Candidates from the General category need a minimum of 40% aggregate marks across Paper 1 and Paper 2. Candidates from SC/ST/OBC/PwD/Transgender categories need a minimum of 35% aggregate marks. However, the effective cut-off is usually higher and depends on the subject-wise vacancy position and difficulty level, as reflected in the table above.
NTA has released the final answer key for 84 subjects alongside the result. Unlike the provisional key — against which candidates could raise paid objections — the final answer key is issued only after expert review of all challenges and is not open to further objections. It is not applicable for English, Commerce, and Sociology, which follow a separate timeline after their re-exam.
Qualified candidates can use their result for the eligibility category awarded to them:
JRF + Assistant Professor — eligible for Junior Research Fellowship stipend and Assistant Professor recruitment
Assistant Professor only — eligible for Assistant Professor recruitment in universities/colleges
PhD Admission only — eligible to seek PhD admission at participating universities
Candidates should verify all scorecard details — name, category, marks, and qualifying status — immediately and report discrepancies to NTA without delay.
