With the release of the UP Board High School and Intermediate results, the focus now shifts to the UP Board Compartment Exams 2026. For students who missed the passing mark by a narrow margin or those unsatisfied with their current scores, this "second inning" is the most crucial step in their academic journey.
The UPMSP (Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad) has designed this process to ensure that merit isn't overshadowed by a single bad day in the exam hall.

The UP Board maintains strict guidelines on who can sit for these special exams. It is categorized into two parts: Improvement and Compartment.
For Class 10 (High School):
Improvement: Students who failed in one subject can apply to improve their grade.
Compartment: Students who failed in two subjects are eligible to sit for the exam in one of those subjects to pass the year.
For Class 12 (Intermediate):
Students from Humanities, Science, and Commerce streams who failed in one subject only.
Vocational & Agriculture: Students in these specialized streams follow the same "one-subject" failure rule for eligibility.
Warning: Students who have failed in three or more subjects are ineligible for the 2026 compartment exams and must re-enroll for the next academic session.
To avoid the rush and ensure your application is successful, follow this digital roadmap:
Visit Official Site: Navigate to the official UPMSP portal.
Locate the Link: Look for the "Download Compartment/Improvement Form 2026" on the homepage.
Enter Credentials: Input your Roll Number and the School Code found on your 2026 Admit Card.
Select Subject: Carefully choose the subject you intend to reappear for.
Pay the Fee: The fee is typically paid via a Treasury Challan or online mode as specified by the board.
Submission: Finalize the form and print the confirmation page. You may need to submit a copy of this to your school principal for verification.
Based on previous trends, the fee structure is expected to be:
Class 10: Approximately ₹256
Class 12: Approximately ₹306
(Note: These figures are subject to minor changes based on the official notification released by the Secretary, UPMSP.)
Q1: Will the syllabus for the compartment exam be different?
No. The syllabus is identical to the main UP Board 2026 exams. Stick to your NCERT textbooks and focus on the chapters where you lost marks in the main exam.
Q2: What happens if I fail the compartment exam?
If a student does not pass the compartment exam, they will be declared "Failed" for the year and will have to appear as a regular or private candidate in the 2027 board exams.
Q3: Can I apply for a re-evaluation and compartment exam simultaneously?
Yes, students often apply for Scrutiny (re-evaluation) first. If the marks do not increase during scrutiny, they then proceed with the compartment application.
Q4: Does the compartment marksheet look different?
While the marksheet will reflect the exam session as "Compartment/Improvement," it carries the same weightage and validity for admission into colleges, universities, and competitive exams like JEE or NEET.
Q5: When will the admit cards for compartment exams be released?
Admit cards are usually issued 7–10 days before the exam date in July. They must be collected from the respective schools or downloaded from the portal if permitted.
