On CM Yogi Adityanath's directions, the Social Welfare Department will give eligible students another chance to apply; scholarship amount to be disbursed directly into bank accounts between September 29 and October 2.
In a major relief for over three lakh students across Uttar Pradesh, the state government has decided to reopen the post-matric scholarship portal to give another chance to students who missed out on the Dashmottar (post-matric) scholarship and fee reimbursement for the academic year 2025–26 due to technical reasons.
Acting on the directions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Social Welfare Department has decided to reopen the scholarship portal — scholarship.up.gov.in — from September 1, 2026. As many as 3,16,057 eligible students were left out of the scholarship and fee reimbursement scheme during the 2025–26 financial year due to technical glitches, and all of them will now get another opportunity to apply.
According to the Social Welfare Department, technical reasons led to 3,16,057 eligible students being deprived of the Dashmottar scholarship and fee reimbursement for 2025–26. Breaking down the figures, 31,836 students belong to government institutions, 37,795 are from government-aided institutions, and the largest group — 2,46,426 students — are from private institutions, making private college students the worst affected.
This is not the first time the state government has stepped in to correct such gaps. A similar initiative was carried out in the 2024–25 financial year, when the portal was reopened and 53,041 students received scholarships and fee reimbursements worth Rs 81.12 crore — of which 25,395 SC students received Rs 30.65 crore and 27,646 General category students received Rs 50.47 crore.
