The countdown has begun for thousands of civil service aspirants. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will officially close the online registration for the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination 2026 and Indian Forest Service (IFS) tomorrow, February 24, 2026, at 6:00 PM.

Candidates who have not yet completed their One-Time Registration (OTR) or submitted their final application forms are urged to do so immediately. Historically, the UPSC portal experiences heavy traffic in the final 12 hours, leading to potential payment failures and submission delays.

UPSC Application Fee & Eligibility Criteria

  • Application Fee: ₹100 for General, OBC, and EWS candidates.

  • Exempted Categories: SC, ST, Female, and PwBD candidates are exempted from paying any fee.

  • Age Limit: 21 to 32 years (Relaxable for reserved categories).

  • Qualification: Graduate degree in any discipline.

Steps to Apply Before the 6 PM Deadline

To ensure your application is successful, follow these steps in order:

  1. OTR (One-Time Registration): If you are a first-time applicant, create your profile at upsconline.nic.in.

  2. Part-I Registration: Fill in personal details and select your examination (CSE or IFS).

  3. Payment: Complete the ₹100 payment online. Tip: Use UPI or Net Banking for faster confirmation.

  4. Upload Documents: You need a scanned Photograph, Signature, and Photo ID Card (Aadhaar/PAN/Voter ID).

  5. Center Selection: Choose your exam city from the available list (Centers are allotted on a "first-apply-first-allot" basis).
