UPSSSC OTR 2026: One-Time Registration Now Mandatory — Forest Guard Window Shuts July 20, Signature Rule Trips Candidates

UPSSSC opened One-Time Registration (OTR) on July 14, 2026 at upsssc.gov.in under Office Order 45/17/2026. Free. Zero fee. Any category. Anyone charging you is running a scam. Mandatory — no OTR number, no application to any future PET or Main exam. Two routes: fresh registration, or login with your PET 2025 registration number. Signature in English CAPITAL LETTERS is rejected. Write your name in Hindi in your own hand below the signature. Photo: JPEG/JPG, 50–100 KB, taken within 6 months. Signature: JPEG/JPG, 30–50 KB. Details are locked once the OTR number generates. No corrections. Ever.

Test

Two days after the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission switched on its One-Time Registration system, the facility has quietly become the hardest gate in the state's recruitment pipeline — and thousands of aspirants sitting on live application windows have not cleared it yet.

The commission opened OTR on July 14, 2026 at upsssc.gov.in, issued under Office Order No. 45/17/विज्ञा0 अनु0 (ग्यारह)/2026/ओ0टी0आर0(O.T.R.)/2026. The pitch is simple: register your personal, educational and contact details once, receive a permanent OTR number, and stop re-typing the same information for every notification the commission issues.

The catch is the timing. The UPSSSC Forest Guard and Wildlife Guard recruitment for 708 posts closes on July 20, 2026 — four days away. The Cane Supervisor application window for 1,182 posts stays open till July 28, and the commission's own instructions tell candidates to complete OTR first if they haven't. Without an OTR number, the form does not open.

No OTR, No Application

The commission has been unambiguous about scope. Registration is free of cost and mandatory for all future UPSSSC PET-based and direct recruitment exams. That covers the Preliminary Eligibility Test and every post-specific Main Examination downstream of it — Lekhpal, Junior Assistant, VDO, Forest Guard, Cane Supervisor, ASO/ARO and the rest of the Group C ladder.

What OTR is not is an application. It does not replace the actual form for a specific post; candidates still apply separately for each exam using their OTR number once individual notifications drop. Nor does it confer eligibility. Eligibility for any post is decided separately by that recruitment's advertisement — qualification, age, category norms and PET cut-off. OTR is the key. It is not the door.

Two Doors In: Fresh, or PET 2025

The portal branches immediately. Candidates are asked whether they hold a PET 2025 registration number — choose "Yes" to log in with it, or "No" to begin a fresh registration. Those going the PET route enter their Registration ID and date of birth, request an OTP, verify, then update the required details.

This is not optional for PET 2025 candidates. Applicants who registered for UPSSSC PET 2025 must complete OTR using their PET 2025 registration number only. Starting a parallel fresh registration creates a duplicate profile — and duplicates are penalised.

The Signature Rule That Is Rejecting Forms

This is where candidates are losing forms, and where the internet is actively misleading them.

The signature may be uploaded in Hindi or English in JPEG/JPG format at 30–50 KB — but signatures in English capital letters will not be accepted, and the candidate's name must be written in Hindi below the signature in their own handwriting.

Read that twice. BLOCK CAPITALS ARE INVALID. A signature is treated as proof of identity, not a name-plate — it must be genuine and in full, and initials are not sufficient. The handwritten Hindi name goes underneath, separately.

The photograph carries its own trap. It must be a recent colour photograph taken within the last six months, in JPEG/JPG, sized between 50 KB and 100 KB. "Recent" is enforceable at verification. A three-year-old college photo is a live risk at document check, not a formality.

The Irreversibility Nobody Is Flagging Loudly Enough

Once the OTR number generates, the record hardens. No changes or corrections are allowed after the OTR registration number is generated. There is no correction window. There is no editing your father's name later. This is the single most consequential line in the notice and it is buried in every competing write-up.

The practical instruction: enter every field exactly as it reads on your Class 10 certificate and Aadhaar — spellings, spacing, initials, date of birth — and preview before submission, not after.

Each candidate is allowed only one OTR number, and multiple registrations may result in cancellation of candidature. If you've lost access, do not re-register. The portal offers password/ID recovery via your registered mobile or email, and holding multiple OTR profiles causes application problems later.

It Is Free. Anyone Charging You Is Lying.

The OTR process is completely free, and candidates should not pay anyone for registration assistance. Free across every category, no processing charge, no convenience fee. The combination of mandatory, free and deadline panic is exactly the environment in which cyber cafés and Telegram "agents" start quoting ₹150–₹500 to "do your OTR." They are charging you for a form you can fill yourself in fifteen minutes.

Related fraud vector: never share your OTP or password. Your OTR profile is now the master record for every UPSSSC application you will ever file.

Don't Confuse This With UPPSC's OTR

A meaningful share of aspirants are landing on the wrong portal. The e-Pariksha OTR portal at otr.pariksha.nic.in is the One Time Registration system of the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission — not UPSSSC. UPPSC runs PCS. UPSSSC runs PET and Group C. Different commissions, different portals, different OTR numbers. Registering on one does nothing for the other.

Is OTR Actually New?

Partly. One analysis notes UPSSSC introduced a One Time Registration facility on 27 March 2021 to reduce repeated data entry, and argues it shouldn't be framed as a brand-new 2026 launch. What has genuinely changed in July 2026 is the enforcement: the commission has made One Time Registration compulsory from 14 July, free, and open at any time — PET 2025 registrants log in with that number, everyone else registers fresh. The facility is old. The mandate is new. That distinction is the whole story.

Step-by-Step: How to Complete UPSSSC OTR 2026

  1. Go to upsssc.gov.in and open the One Time Registration (OTR) link. Do not use forwarded short-links.

  2. Answer the PET 2025 registration number prompt — Yes to log in with it, No for fresh registration.

  3. Enter name, father's/mother's name, date of birth, gender, category, nationality and domicile exactly as per official documents, plus State, Home District and High School details.

  4. Enter an active mobile number and email ID — both carry OTP verification and all future official communication. Avoid temporary IDs; this is a decade-long profile.

  5. Complete OTP verification on both.

  6. Upload photo (50–100 KB, JPEG/JPG, ≤6 months old) and signature (30–50 KB, JPEG/JPG) — no capital letters, Hindi name handwritten below.

  7. Set a password you will not lose. The same credentials will be used for every future UPSSSC application.

  8. Preview everything. Then submit. Your OTR number generates — and locks.

What's Riding On It

With major recruitments expected in the coming months, including UPSSSC PET 2026, interest in OTR registration has climbed sharply. The PET 2026 notification is expected around mid-2026, with the exam anticipated near October–November 2026 based on previous cycles — unofficial timing, but it means OTR is the prerequisite for a registration surge that hasn't even started yet.

The commission has issued no OTR deadline. That is precisely why candidates should not wait: registering early avoids last-minute technical issues during peak traffic. The server that has to absorb every PET 2026 aspirant is the same one you can walk into quietly today.

UPSSSC OTR 2026 FAQs

Is UPSSSC OTR mandatory in 2026?

Yes. You cannot apply for any UPSSSC recruitment, including PET, without a completed OTR profile. It applies to all future PET and Main Examinations. OTR is a profile step, not an application — you still submit a separate form for each post.

What is the UPSSSC OTR fee?

Zero. The registration is completely free — ₹0 for all candidates across every category. There is no fee for any category, and no payment gateway in the OTR flow. Anyone charging you for OTR is defrauding you.

Can English capital-letter signatures be uploaded for UPSSSC OTR?

No. Signatures in English capital letters will not be accepted. Your name must also be handwritten in Hindi below the signature. Sign normally in Hindi or English — full signature, not initials — then write your Hindi name beneath it.
