Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) has issued the revised UPTAC 2026 counselling calendar, confirming that Round 1 choice filling and choice locking for BTech admission will commence on July 13, 2026. Candidates who have completed the counselling registration and document verification stages will be eligible to participate in the choice filling round on the official portal, uptac.samarth.edu.in.
The fresh schedule follows AKTU's earlier decision to postpone the counselling timeline. The university has now notified round-wise dates covering choice filling, seat allotment, seat acceptance fee payment, willingness submission and the subsequent rounds of Uttar Pradesh Technical Admission Counselling.
Round 1 choice filling and locking: July 13 to July 16, 2026 Round 1 seat allotment result: July 18, 2026 Seat acceptance fee payment and willingness (Freeze/Float): July 18 to July 20, 2026
Candidates are advised to complete choice locking well before the closing date, as unlocked preferences are not carried forward into the seat allotment algorithm.
During the choice filling process, candidates must log in to the UPTAC counselling portal using their application credentials and arrange their preferred colleges and BTech programmes in the desired order of preference. Seats are allotted on the basis of the candidate's JEE Main rank, the order of locked choices, category and seat availability.
Candidates are advised to fill in as many choices as possible. A longer, well-ordered preference list materially improves the probability of securing an allotment in the first round itself. Because the allotment engine works top-down through the merit list and assigns the highest-ranked available preference, placing ambitious choices at the top of the list carries no penalty — the system simply moves to the next preference if a higher one is unavailable.
Step 1: Visit the official UPTAC counselling portal. Step 2: Log in using your Registration Number or registered email ID and password. Step 3: Click on the "Choice Filling" link on the candidate dashboard. Step 4: Select your preferred institutes and courses in order of preference. Step 5: Save the choices, then lock them before the last date. Step 6: Download and retain a copy of the locked choice list for future reference.
After the choice filling window closes on July 16, AKTU will release the Round 1 seat allotment result on July 18 as per the revised counselling schedule. Candidates allotted a seat must confirm their admission by paying the prescribed seat acceptance fee and submitting their willingness between July 18 and July 20.
Freeze: The candidate accepts the allotted seat and exits further rounds of seat allotment. The allotted seat is retained.
Float: The candidate accepts the allotted seat provisionally but remains eligible for seat upgradation in subsequent rounds. If a better preference becomes available, the seat is upgraded automatically.
Candidates who neither pay the seat acceptance fee nor record a willingness option within the deadline risk automatic cancellation of the allotted seat.
As per the revised schedule, UPTAC BTech seat allotment will be conducted across four main rounds, one internal sliding round and two special rounds. Registration is a one-time process for the regular cycle; candidates who are not allotted a seat in Round 1 are automatically considered in the following round without any fresh application. Choice editing remains available in the later rounds, allowing candidates to expand or reorder their preference list.
Only candidates whose documents have been cleared by the Central Document Verification Team can access the choice filling link. Candidates who received a query notification during verification must re-upload valid documents in the prescribed format before the window opens. Category, sub-category and horizontal reservation claims must be supported by valid certificates, which will also be verified in original at the time of physical reporting at the allotted institute.
All notifications, the seat matrix, the information brochure and the round-wise counselling calendar are published on the official UPTAC portal. Candidates should verify every date against the official notice before acting, as AKTU has revised the schedule more than once this cycle.
