The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) has opened the decentralised round of WBJEE 2026 counselling. The board released the vacant-seat information on September 6, and registration, fee payment, profile creation and choice-filling run from September 7 to 8, 2026. The entire process is conducted online at wbjeeb.nic.in.
The short answer for the most-searched question: it starts on September 7, 2026. For Phase 1, registration and choice-filling are open from September 7 to 8, and preferred courses and colleges must be selected during registration itself. The Phase 1 Round 1 seat allotment result will be announced on September 10.
Decentralised counselling is a residual seat-allotment process held after the main WBJEE centralised admission programme (CAP), covering seats that remain vacant in government, government-aided and participating private engineering, technology, architecture and pharmacy colleges across West Bengal. Instead of individual institutes running it offline, the board conducts this spot round online. The board refers to it as DCAP — the Decentralised Counselling Admission Process. It is aimed at candidates who missed a seat in the earlier rounds, withdrew from a previous allotment, or want to upgrade before the session closes.
A total of 36,491 vacant seats are on offer — 33,857 in Engineering, Technology and Architecture, and 2,634 in Pharmacy. Among institutions, Jadavpur University and Calcutta University have recorded a high number of vacant seats this year.

Registration fee and seat acceptance fee
Candidates pay a one-time, non-refundable registration fee of ₹250, while the seat acceptance fee of ₹2,000 applies only after an allotted option is selected and locked. (Fee figures reported for different WBJEE rounds vary, so confirm the exact acceptance-fee amount against the official DCAP notification before paying.)
Candidates who have not secured any seat, as well as those who want to move to a better option, can take part; admission is based on WBJEE rank, JEE Main rank and Class 12 qualifying marks. Those who already took part in the centralised WBJEE counselling do not need to register afresh — they can log in and fill their choices — while candidates who have already confirmed an admission they wish to keep need not participate.
Go to wbjeeb.nic.in and open the DCAP-2026 / decentralised counselling link.
Register and pay the ₹250 fee (candidates from the centralised round can log in with existing credentials — check the notification for your case).
Create or verify your profile.
Fill and lock your choices against the published vacancy matrix during September 7–8.
Check the Round 1 allotment on September 10; if allotted, pay the seat acceptance fee and generate the provisional admission receipt within the deadline.
Complete physical document verification at the allotted institute to confirm admission.
The round is held in two phases, each with two allotment rounds, and no fresh choice-filling is accepted for the Round 2 allotment. Only candidates not allotted in Round 1 are eligible for Round 2, and anyone appearing on multiple allocation lists must lock down a single choice. Candidates can be debarred for missing two consecutive non-response phases.
