PGIMER Nursing Officer Eligibility 2026 covers the educational qualification, nursing registration, age limit and experience required for the Nursing Officer post at PGIMER Chandigarh. Candidates can apply through the B.Sc. Nursing or GNM diploma route, subject to fulfilling the prescribed conditions.

For the GNM route, candidates must also have one year of experience in a minimum 50-bedded hospital after obtaining the required qualification. The age and other eligibility conditions are determined as per the recruitment notification and the prescribed cut-off date.

PGIMER Nursing Officer Eligibility 2026

Candidates planning to apply for the PGIMER Nursing Officer Recruitment 2026 should check the eligibility criteria before filling out the application form. PGIMER has announced 243 Nursing Officer posts under Group B at PGIMER, Chandigarh.

The post carries Level-7 pay, with a pay scale of ₹44,900–₹1,42,400 as per the 7th CPC pay matrix.

The main eligibility requirements include:

  • Age limit

  • Required experience, wherever applicable

PGIMER Nursing Officer Educational Qualification

Candidates can meet the educational qualification requirement through either the B.Sc. Nursing route or the Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery route.

B.Sc. Nursing Route

Candidates must fulfil the following requirements:

  • B.Sc. (Hons.) in Nursing from a recognised university or institute; or

  • Regular B.Sc. Nursing course from a recognised university or institute; or

  • Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing from a recognised university or institute.

Candidates applying through this route must also be registered as a Nurse or Nurse and Midwife (RN or RN & RM) with a State Nursing Council.

Diploma Route

Candidates with a Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery can also apply, provided they meet all the other conditions.

They must:

  1. Hold a Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery from a recognised Board or Council.

  2. Be registered as a Nurse or Nurse and Midwife with a State Nursing Council.

  3. Have one year of experience in a minimum 50-bedded hospital after obtaining the required diploma qualification.

Therefore, candidates with a GNM diploma should make sure they have the required one-year hospital experience before applying.

PGIMER Nursing Officer Age Limit

The prescribed age limit for the Nursing Officer post is 18 to 35 years.

The upper age limit will be calculated on the last date of submission of the online application, i.e. 3 October 2026. The date of birth mentioned in the Matriculation/Secondary Examination Certificate will be considered for determining the candidate's age.

Age Relaxation

Candidates belonging to certain categories can get relaxation in the upper age limit as per Government rules.

1. Check the qualification carefully

A candidate must possess the required qualification by the last date of application. Applications from candidates who do not meet the prescribed eligibility conditions can be cancelled at any stage.

2. Nursing registration is required

Candidates applying through the B.Sc. Nursing route need registration as a Nurse or Nurse and Midwife (RN or RN & RM) with a State Nursing Council. The same registration requirement applies to candidates using the GNM diploma route.

3. GNM candidates need experience

Candidates applying with a Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery must have one year of experience in a minimum 50-bedded hospital after obtaining the required qualification.

4. The qualification should be from a recognised institution

PGIMER has specified that the required nursing qualifications must be from recognised universities, institutes, boards or councils, as applicable. Qualifications obtained through Open and Distance Learning must also meet the recognition requirements mentioned in the recruitment notice.

5. Experience must be acquired after the qualification

Where experience is required, only experience obtained after acquiring the essential qualification will be counted for determining eligibility.

6. Keep the required documents ready

Candidates should upload documents supporting their age, educational qualifications, marks, category and experience, wherever applicable. Candidates working in Government, Semi-Government or Autonomous organisations may also need to submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC).
