Preparing for an Olympiad with regular school can be challenging, especially when students have to manage school exams, lectures, practice, DPPs, and tests together. Samiran faced the same challenge during his NSEJS preparation.
His journey shows how managing these demands over time and making use of available academic support can help a student move forward in Olympiad preparation.
Samiran's Olympiad preparation began with an early exposure to PW's YouTube content. Talking about how his preparation started, Samiran said:
“Mere NSEJS ki journey 2024 ke time se start hui thi. Hum NSEJS 2023 ka jo PW ka YouTube mein series hua tha, wahan se 2024 mein prepare Kiya tha. Mera main targeted NSEJS preparation start hui thi is 2025 ke January mein se.”
He later moved towards more focused preparation while continuing with his regular school responsibilities.
As his preparation became more focused, Samiran also had to manage his regular school. Since he was required to attend school regularly, balancing academics with Olympiad preparation became one of his biggest challenges.
He described this phase clearly:
“Sabse bada challenge tha jo ki school ko manage karna. Kyunki main A class mein hoon to regular school jaana padta hai. To school ke exam ke marks ko sahi rakh ke yahan ke lectures dekhna, DPP solve karna, practice karna aur test dena ye bada challenge tha.”
Over time, Samiran learned to manage both, continuing his NSEJS preparation while attending regular school.
As Samiran continued preparing, academic support became particularly useful when he needed to clarify doubts and work through problems. His experience with PW's Olympiad preparation also included the PDC Camp, where he could interact with teachers in person and participate in group discussions.
Describing his experience at the camp, he said:
“PDC Camp ek aisa camp hai jahan hum teachers se in-person interaction kar sakte hain. Hum apne dost se group discussion kar sakte hain. Aur yahan pe jo daily testing hoti hai ye humko achhe se time ko manage karna sikhata hai.”
The camp became an additional part of his preparation while he continued balancing Olympiad studies with regular school.
While online learning provided access to doubt-solving sessions, Samiran found it difficult to attend them regularly because of school. The in-person environment at the PDC Camp made it easier for him to ask questions and get his doubts addressed.
He explained:
“Jab hum online course kar rahe the tab humko jab doubt aata tha, doubt-solving session bhi hota tha. But main attend nahi kar pata tha school ke starting se. But yahan pe hum achhe se doubt pooch sakte hain. Doubt-solving session hota hai.”
As his preparation progressed, balancing school and Olympiad preparation remained an important part of his routine. He had to find ways to manage both alongside each other.
Samiran's preparation was not limited to NSEJS alone. As he looked towards the next stage, he found that the level of some of the problems covered at the PDC Camp was also useful for further Olympiad preparation.
He shared:
“PDC Camp mein PDC Camp to NCEJS ke liye hi target hai but class mein jo problems kara jaata hai wo usmein se lagbhag 50 to 60% problems IJSO jaise level ka hi hota hai.”
The level of these problems gave him additional practice for the next stage of Olympiad preparation.
For students balancing school with competitive academic preparation, Samiran's journey offers a realistic reminder that challenges can be managed gradually through time management and the right academic support.
