INAO Exam Date 2025

INAO Exam Date 2025 : Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (affiliated with the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research – HBCSE) has officially announced the INAO Exam Date 2025 along with the release of the Science Olympiad Notification 2025. Candidates who qualify for the NSEA Exam held on 23rd November 2024 are shortlisted for the INAO Examination.

INAO stands for Indian National Astronomy Olympiad is a prestigious competition designed to encourage students to excel in Astronomy. As per the official notification details at https://secure.hbcse.tifr.res.in, the INAO Exam 2025 is going to be commenced on 01st February 2025 (Saturday) between 9.00 am to 12.00 pm. It aims to identify talents among candidates by providing a platform for students to showcase their knowledge and skills. INAO is organized at the national level and successful participants get a chance to represent India in the International Astronomy Olympiad.

The list of students selected for the INAO Examination will be published by 15th January 2025 on the IAPT website: www.iapt.org.in. Candidates who successfully pass the National Standard Examination of Astronomy (NSEA) are eligible to participate in the Indian National Astronomy Olympiad (INAO), managed by the HBCSE (Homi Bhabha Center For Science Education). Indian National Astronomy Olympiad is the second stage in the selection process for the International Astronomy Olympiad (IAO), which in turn leads to the Orientation cum Selection Camp (OCSC) in Astronomy then PDT Following OCSC, the top-performing students are shortlisted to undergo the Pre-Departure Training (PDT) for the International Astronomy Olympiad .

INAO Exam Pattern 2025

The INAO 2025 Exam consists of two parts.
  • There will be total 6 Questions in the INAO Examination. Maximum marks are indicated in front of each sub-question.
  • The total marks for INAO 2025 is 100.
  • Also 1/3 marks is penalized for each wrong answer.
  • The INAO question paper language is available in English and Hindi. For INAO registration 2024-2025, students must select one language of their choice.
  • Duration of INAO Exam is 3 Hours (180 Minutes).

3. Elementary Astronomical Notions

  • Basic knowledge of Solar System and associated phenomena: Sun, Planets and their moons, Comets, Asteroids, Diurnal motion of Earth, Phases of the Moon, Seasons, Eclipses, Tides.
  • Familiarity with structural elements of the Universe: Stars, Galaxies, Clusters of galaxies.
  • Familiarity with the night sky: Brightest stars, Common constellations, Milky Way, paths of solar system objects in the night sky, rising and setting of stars.
  • Working principle of Telescopes.
  • Major historical landmarks in the development of Astronomy.
Any in-depth knowledge of astronomy is not required. However, basic familiarity with astronomical terminology, objects and phenomena, as can be acquired through an interest in astronomy (reading popular books / listening to popular lectures etc.), is expected.

INAO Admit Card 2025

Every year Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE) issues the INAO Admit Card 2025 a few days before the exam date. The INAO Hall Ticket 2025 will be available online only to those candidates who register themselves on the HBCSE website (olympiads.hbcse.tifr.res.in) after the publication of the list in order to obtain their INO admit cards. Only the students who qualify for the NSEA Examination 2024-25 are eligible to appear in the INAO exam and only they will get the INAO Admit Card 2025. It is mandatory to carry the hall ticket to exam premises without which no one is allowed enter the examination hall.
