The Indian National Olympiad is an annual mathematics competition for high school students held in India. The Indian National Mathematical Olympiad (INMO) is the third stage for the top students who took the Regional Mathematical Olympiad. The INMO takes place nationwide on the third Sunday of January month i.e. on 18th January 2026.

The INMO 2026 is going to be commenced on 18th January 2026 (Sunday). The goal of the Indian National Mathematical Olympiad is to bring secondary and higher secondary students together in a common competitive arena to showcase their passion and proficiency in Mathematics.
After successfully passing the INMO examination, the selected candidates are then trained at the IMOTC (International Mathematical Olympiad Training Camp) for developing conceptual foundations and problem-solving skills.INMO 2026 Overview | |

From grades 8, 9, 10, and 11, a maximum of 28 students, and from grade 12 a maximum of 6 students are selected to participate in the HBCSE INMO in each region.
When there is a tie between the scores of two candidates, The Pre-Regional math Olympiad (Pre RMO) score will be considered as the tie-breaker. In a case where even the Pre RMO score fails to break the score, the final list submitted to the HBCSE will consider all the candidates.
Additionally, five additional girls are selected (Only girl students from grades 8, 9, 10, and 11) excluding the candidates for each region.
A minimum of five students from the Non-Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) CBSE schools outside India and a maximum of five students studying in the KV schools outside India may be chosen to appear for the INMO 2026 examination directly. The selection of the students is mainly done by the authorities of the CBSE and KVS.
28 students were selected from each region and allowed to sit for the INMO examination and usually the INMO examination is held in the month of February but due to the covid crisis in our country, the official dates are not yet announced. A total of 30 candidates qualify for the INMO 2026 examination out of the 500 candidates. The 30 qualified candidates are then sent to the month-long training at the HBCSE to prepare for the International Math Olympiad.
After the training camp is concluded, only the best six candidates are chosen to represent our country for the International Math Olympiad(IMO).
