Math Kangaroo 2026: Mathematical Kangaroo 2026 is an International Mathematics Olympiad organised for students in classes 1 to 12. Students who are interested in the interesting facts related to Mathematics. They can apply for the Mathematical Kangaroo Olympiad. The last date to complete the registration process March 31, 2026. The contest will begin from April 18 to April 30, 2026. Eligible students of classes 1 to 12 can participate in the olympiad, testing their Mathematical knowledge.

Math Kangaroo 2026 Registration is open for students on the official website. Students can visit the website to fill out the online application form and choose the testing location. They can appear for the Olympiad as per the scheduled dates. The last date to complete the registration process and submit the form is March 31, 2026.

Real numbers, functions, polynomials, number sequences, combinatorics, and plane geometry.

Math Kangaroo 2026 Exam Pattern 

  • Time Limit: The exam lasts for 90 minutes.

  • Questions for Grades 5 to 12: There are 30 questions worth a total of 120 points.

  • Questions for Grades 1 to 4: There are 24 questions worth a total of 96 points.

  • Format: Every question is multiple-choice with five options to pick from.

  • How to Enter: * Individual students must take the exam online.

    • Schools can choose to let students take the exam online or offline.

  • Offline Rules: Students taking the test at school will use an OMR answer sheet. They can use blank paper for math work and give it back to the teacher.

  • Fair Ranking: Students in different grades (like Grade 1 and Grade 2) take the same test but are ranked separately against others in their own grade.

  • Marking: Students lose 1 point for a wrong answer, but there is no penalty for skipping a question.

  • Allowed Items: Students can bring pencils, pens, erasers, and rulers to the exam.

  • Banned Items: Students cannot use calculators or smartwatches during the test.

  • Final Round: Any student who gets a perfect score in the first round will move on to the Final Round.

Math Kangaroo Marking Scheme

The questions are divided into three parts: Easy, Medium, and Hard.

  • Section 1: 3 points per correct answer.

  • Section 2: 4 points per correct answer.

  • Section 3: 5 points per correct answer.

  • Negative Marking: In many regions, 1 point is taken away for a wrong answer to discourage guessing. If a student leaves a question blank, they get 0 points.

Math Kangaroo Awards & Prizes

Math Kangaroo Awards & Prizes are considered motivational prizes for the students. It is to appreciate thier performance and encourage them for participating in the olympiads. 

  • Gold medals are given to the top 5% of students.

  • Silver medals are given to the next top 10% of students.

  • Bronze medals are given to the following top 10% of students.

  • Every student who wins a medal also receives a merit certificate.

  • All other participants will get a participation or appreciation certificate.

  • Appreciation and participation certificates are sent only as e-certificates.

  • Any student who gets a perfect score in the first round moves to the final round.

  • Final round students scoring over 95% win a Perfect Score Award.

  • Perfect scorers in the final round receive a Gold Medal and $100 cash.
