MTSE Syllabus 2026: Subject-Wise Syllabus and Topics

The MTSE Syllabus 2026 covers Mental Ability and school-level subjects for students appearing for the Maharashtra Talent Search Examination. The exam is conducted by Modern Education Society's Centre for Talent Search & Excellence.

Students preparing for MTSE should study the complete syllabus prescribed for their respective class. The exam does not leave out any part of the school syllabus.

MTSE Syllabus 2026

The MTSE exam has two written papers:

• Paper I: Mental Ability Test (MAT)

• Paper II: Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT)

Both papers are objective-type exams. Students get four options for each question and have to select the correct answer.

For Std. X, an interview is also conducted for 50 marks.

MTSE Exam Syllabus: Paper I – Mental Ability Test

Paper I is the Mental Ability Test (MAT). It checks a student's ability to understand questions, identify patterns and apply logical thinking.

The difficulty level is slightly higher than the Mental Ability Paper of the Scholarship Examination for the respective standard.

For example:

• MTSE Std. VIII: Mental Ability level is slightly higher than the Scholarship Examination for Std. VII.

• MTSE Std. IX: Mental Ability level is slightly higher than the MTSE level for Std. VIII.

• MTSE Std. X: Mental Ability level is slightly higher than the MTSE level for Std. IX.

MTSE Subject-Wise Syllabus: Paper II – Scholastic Aptitude Test

Paper II is the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). The syllabus is based on the school curriculum for the respective class.

The syllabus covers the entire academic year's syllabus for Std. VIII, IX and X.

Students should prepare from the regular textbooks prescribed by their school for the academic year.

MTSE Syllabus for Std. VIII

For Std. VIII, students need to prepare the complete school syllabus prescribed for the academic year. The SAT questions are based on the subjects included in the school's curriculum.

Students should study all chapters from their prescribed textbooks and practise questions based on concepts, application and understanding.

MTSE Syllabus for Std. IX

The MTSE syllabus for Std. IX is based on the complete school syllabus for the academic year.

Students should revise every chapter from their prescribed textbooks. Along with learning concepts, they should practise questions that test their understanding and application of those concepts.

MTSE Syllabus for Std. X

The MTSE syllabus for Std. X also covers the complete school syllabus for the academic year.

Students should revise all prescribed subjects and chapters thoroughly. Since the exam covers the full year's curriculum, skipping chapters can leave gaps in preparation.

MTSE Interview Syllabus for Std. X

The interview is conducted only for students of Std. X and carries 50 marks.

There is no fixed syllabus for the interview. The interview checks how well students understand and apply what they have learned.
