Every student has different strengths, but regular school exams may not always show them. KAMP NASTA, or the National Assessment of Scientific Temperament and Aptitude, helps students understand their scientific thinking, problem-solving skills, and other abilities beyond marks and grades. It assesses these skills without focusing only on rote learning.
KAMP NASTA is an initiative of KAMP (Knowledge and Awareness Mapping Platform) that assesses students on different cognitive and scientific skills. Information about the skills evaluated, benefits, eligibility, exam pattern, registration process, results, and other important details is provided here.
KAMP NASTA is a test that checks students on the same scale. This makes it easier to understand and compare results across different schools and regions. The questions are also based on the student’s age and class level, so they are suitable for students at different stages of school.
The test is often available online and in schools, depending on how the assessment is conducted.
KAMP NASTA helps students understand their scientific thinking, problem-solving ability, and other skills beyond regular school exams. Here is a quick overview of the assessment, its purpose, eligibility, registration, and other key details.

KAMP NASTA checks different skills that help students think, solve problems, and understand scientific concepts. It evaluates 8 skills in total, including the following four:
Cognitive abilities
Problem-solving skills
Critical thinking
Scientific knowledge
The assessment also covers four other skill areas as part of its 8-skill assessment. These skills help students understand their strengths and the areas where they may need more improvement.
KAMP NASTA helps students understand their skills and test performance. It includes age-appropriate questions and provides reports that help students, parents, and teachers understand the results.
In KAMP NASTA, all students are assessed on the same scale. This makes it easier to understand and compare their results across different schools and groups.
The test questions are based on students’ class and education level. This makes the questions suitable for their learning level.
After the assessment, students receive a report showing their strengths and the areas where they need to improve.
KAMP NASTA is often available online and in schools. This allows students from different regions and backgrounds to participate in the assessment.
After the assessment, KAMP provides guidance to students, parents, and educators to help them understand the results. This can help them plan their next steps in education and career development.
KAMP NASTA helps students understand their strengths and areas where they can improve. Its results can also help parents and teachers better support students in their studies and future choices.
Regular school exams may not always show skills such as reasoning and scientific curiosity. KAMP NASTA helps identify these hidden abilities, making it easier for students and parents to understand their strengths.
Teachers can use the detailed feedback from KAMP NASTA to include the 8 assessed skills in their regular teaching, which supports better learning outcomes for each student.
Knowing their strengths and weak areas helps students make informed choices about the subjects and careers that suit them best.
When students know exactly which areas need more attention, they can focus their study time better, which can lead to improved results over time.
Recognising their own strengths gives students the confidence to pursue their interests with more focus and commitment.
Beyond academics, KAMP NASTA promotes problem-solving, critical thinking, and scientific reasoning as important life skills that can also support students in various competitive examinations.
The detailed reports also help teachers and parents understand a student's needs better, so they can offer the right support at the right time.
Students can register for KAMP NASTA either through their school or individually. Schools first need to register on the school portal and assign a KAMP Nodal Officer. Students registering through their school can submit their details through the school, while individual students can register online by selecting their school from the available list.
Schools can register through the KAMP school portal. After registration, KAMP sends the login details to the registered email address and mobile number. The school also needs to appoint a KAMP Nodal Officer, preferably the school principal, as the main point of contact.
Students who want to register through their school can enrol at their respective school. The school’s KAMP Nodal Officer uploads the participating students’ details on the KAMP portal using the school login. For self-financed schools, the participation fee is Rs. 400 per student and is paid once a year.
Students can also register individually through the KAMP student registration portal. During registration, they need to select their school from the available list and pay the applicable participation fee.
The participation fee can be paid online through UPI, cards, wallets, net banking, NEFT, or RTGS. Students can make the payment individually, or schools can complete bulk registration and payment through their school login.
