NFR Apprentice Notification 2026 Out: The Personnel Department of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), Headquarters, Maligaon (Guwahati), has released the official NFR Apprentice Notification 2026 (Notification No. NFR/NAPS/ACT APP./2026). This centralised recruitment drive has been announced under the Apprentices Act 1961 to fill 6,777 training slots across various workshops, divisions, and units for the training periods of 2025–2026 and 2026–2027.
Eligible candidates who have completed their Matriculation and hold a valid ITI certificate can submit their applications through the online portal. The official application window will open on July 20, 2026.

Aspirants must verify their educational and technical qualifications before proceeding with the application process.
For Technical Trades (Fitter, Turner, Welder, Electrician, Plumber, Machinist, etc.): Candidates must have passed Matriculation (10th class standard examination) with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks from a recognised educational board. They must also possess a National Trade Certificate (ITI degree) in the relevant designated trade approved by NCVT or SCVT.
For Laboratory Technician (Pathology & Radiology): Candidates must have passed Matriculation with at least 50% aggregate marks, along with a 12th Science qualification containing Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
Candidates must be not below 15 years and not above 24 years of age as on the closing date of application, i.e., 19-08-2026.

For children of ex-servicemen, the same age relaxation as applicable to their respective community (UR/SC/ST/OBC) will apply.
NFR apprenticeship training covers more than 40 ITI trades across Mechanical, Electrical, Engineering, Medical, Stores, Personnel and Accounts departments.
A non-refundable fee of ₹ 100/- (Rupees one hundred) only will have to be paid online through payment
SC, ST, PwBD, EBC & women candidates are exempted from payment of the application fee.
Candidates seeking fee exemption as Economically Backwards Class (EBC) must fulfil the criteria of having a family income of less than ₹ 50,000/- per annum and must upload a certificate issued on or after 01-04-2026
The selection of candidates for the apprenticeship program will be conducted systematically through an academic merit system:
Merit List Compilation: The final merit list will be prepared based on the average of percentage marks obtained in Matriculation (minimum 50% aggregate required) and the ITI trade marks.
Tie-Breaking Rule: If two or more candidates secure identical marks, the candidate who is older in age will be placed higher in rank. If the dates of birth are also identical, the candidate who passed the matriculation examination earlier will be preferred.
Document Verification (DV): Shortlisted candidates equal to 1.5 times the number of notified training slots will be called for the verification of their original educational testimonials and the submission of a medical fitness certificate.

2. Navigate to the Application Link:
Click on the following path sequentially: General Info -> Departments -> Personnel -> Act Apprentice Notification.
3. Fill the Online Application Form:
Open the online registration portal, enter your personal identity marks, matriculation details, ITI scores, and select your preferred training unit choices in order of preference.
4. Submit and Download Copy:
Review all the filled blocks carefully to ensure accurate information entry. Submit the online form and save a printed physical copy of the application summary page for reference during Document Verification.
Note: Candidates are strictly allowed to submit only one application. Submitting multiple registrations will lead to disqualification.
Minimum stipend for NTC/STC holders: ₹9,600 per month. Where one or two years' exemption is admissible under the Apprenticeship curriculum: ₹10,560/month (2nd year, 10% increase) and ₹11,040/month (3rd year, 15% increase).
Stipend rates are subject to revision from time to time as notified by the appropriate authority. No hostel accommodation is provided; apprentices must make their own arrangements during training.
