Railway Recruitment Update: The Indian Railways recruitment process is currently in a significant phase. Approx. 1,20,580 vacancies are being filled across various categories. It includes Loco Pilot, Technician, Junior Engineer (JE), Paramedical, and Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC). The RRB Calendar 2026 will be released online. It is expected that the calendar will be published in January/February 2026.
Indian Railway exams consistently draw massive interest from job seekers, often resulting in fierce competition for limited seats. For example:
RRB 3,000–4,000 general vacancies, around 60 lakh people apply.
18,799 ALP posts, about 18 lakh applications were received.
For 14,298 Technician posts, nearly 27 lakh candidates applied.
For over 11,500 NTPC vacancies, more than 1.25 crore applications came in.
Despite such huge numbers, the Railways are continuing the recruitment process.
The first phase of the CBT exam for around 59,678 posts is already completed.
These exams were conducted in 156 cities and in 15 different languages.
The Indian Railways maintains a rigorous and transparent examination system.
All exams are conducted as Computer-Based Tests (CBT).
The process is managed by highly reputed organisations like TCS, ensuring strict integrity and a zero-tolerance policy against paper leaks.
However, the delay occurred in conducting the RRB Group D exam. The delay happened due to the court case in 2025. All the things related to the Group D exam have been sorted, and the CBT exam has been organised.

A major, positive update for future recruitment cycles is the expected release of the 2026 recruitment calendar.
The calendar is anticipated to be released in January–February 2026.
This marks a significant change, as previously, the Railways only released job notifications without a fixed annual calendar.
The introduction of an official calendar will allow aspirants to plan their preparation more effectively. Candidates should follow the syllabus topics provided by the authority in the official syllabus. Revise the important topics and solve the mock tests.
