Current Affairs from 2026, especially from the last six months, played an important role. Mathematics and Reasoning were mostly easy, while Science was largely based on NCERT. PYQs can be very useful for preparing Mathematics, Reasoning, and Science.

These Current Affairs questions primarily focused on 2026, with a few from 2025, establishing Current Affairs as a primary focus for exam preparation. ( Memory Tip: For upcoming shifts, prioritize Current Affairs from the last 6 months, up to June/July of the current year.)

Mathematics

The Mathematics section, which comprises 25 questions, was largely assessed as easy to moderate. Reports suggest that only one or two questions were notably calculative or difficult. This observation indicates a departure from earlier exam patterns where Mathematics often involved extensive calculations.

Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology)

The Science section displayed a generally balanced ratio among Physics, Chemistry, and Biology questions. While one student initially observed a slightly higher number of Chemistry questions, traditionally, Railway exams give the highest weightage to Physics, followed by Chemistry, and then Biology. In this shift, approximately 5-6 questions were from Biology, with Physics and Chemistry contributing a greater number. All content is expected to adhere to the NCERT framework.

Reasoning

The Reasoning section was reported as very easy, with many students confidently attempting all 30 questions. Seating Arrangement and Direction-based questions were frequently featured, making them crucial topics for practice and revision.

The overall difficulty level of the RRB Group D first shift exam was assessed as easy to moderate. No new chapters or topics have been introduced to the established syllabus. For candidates appearing in subsequent shifts, the primary focus should remain on Current Affairs, particularly those from 2026. Revising monthly or 6-month Current Affairs magazines is highly recommended. While this specific shift showed a certain subject distribution, it's important to remember that subject weightage can fluctuate across different shifts (e.g., Chemistry might be more prominent in one shift, Physics in another). Mathematics questions were not highly calculative in this shift, a notable change from previous exam patterns.

To aid preparation, a series of live classes for Group D exam preparation are scheduled daily:

  • 5 PM - 6 PM: GK

  • 6 PM - 7 PM: Math

  • 7 PM - 8 PM: Reasoning

  • 8 PM - 9 PM: Science
