RRB Group D Caste Certificate 2026: Candidates applying for the Railway recruitment exams should submit a valid caste certificate. It is mandatory for the candidates applying for the reserved categories. Candidates should follow a relevant format applicable as per the government norms for RRB Group D Caste Certificate 2026. However, failing to submit a valid caste certificate for the railway exams can cause the application to be rejected.
OBC certificates require Non-Creamy Layer status and must be less than one year old from the application closing date. EWS certificates must be valid for the relevant financial year. Candidates should visit the official website to get the formats for the caste certificates.

Rules regarding incorrect or improperly formatted caste certificates have changed significantly, impacting application outcomes. Previously, an invalid reserved category certificate led to automatic consideration under the Unreserved (UR) / General category.

Outright application rejection. No consideration for UR/General category. |
Reserved category candidates (OBC, SC, ST) who do not possess a valid Central Government certificate can still apply for railway posts. They must fill out the application form under the Unreserved (UR) / General category. They would not be able to get any benefits like age relaxation and application fee relaxation for the reserved categories.
Specific conditions apply to OBC certificates to ensure their validity during the application process.
Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) Status: The OBC certificate must explicitly state that the candidate does not belong to the "Creamy Layer" as per the guidelines of the Government of India (DOPT). Candidates also need to submit a non-creamy layer self-declaration.
Validity Period: The OBC certificate must not be more than one year old from the closing date of the application submission. For example, if the last date to apply for a position is March 31, 2026, the candidate's OBC-NCL certificate must have been issued on or after April 1, 2025. Any certificate issued before this one-year window will be considered invalid.
Candidates applying under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category, the certificate's validity is tied to the financial year. A financial year runs from 1st April to 31st March. Applicants should ensure they have an updated certificate for the correct financial year to avail the benefits.
