The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has prescribed the age limit, category-wise age relaxation, and medical fitness requirements for the RRB Section Controller post under CEN No. 03/2026. Candidates must satisfy the prescribed age criteria as on 1 July 2026 and submit valid supporting documents to claim any applicable relaxation.
Along with the eligibility requirements, applicants must also qualify the A-2 medical standard, vision test, and medical examination conducted by the Railway Administration before the final appointment.

The RRB Section Controller Age Relaxation rules are applicable to reserved categories and other eligible candidates as specified in the official notification. The prescribed age limit for the Section Controller post is 20 to 33 years as on 1 July 2026.
Candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC-NCL, Ex-Servicemen, Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), serving railway employees, widowed or divorced women, and certain other categories can claim relaxation in the upper age limit. The relaxation is granted only after verification of valid certificates.

Candidates should claim age relaxation only if they fulfil the prescribed eligibility conditions and possess valid supporting documents.
The RRB Section Controller Age Relaxation is granted only under the conditions mentioned in the official notification. Candidates should keep the following points in mind before applying:
Age will be calculated as on 1 July 2026.
Candidates must possess valid certificates to claim relaxation.
SC, ST, and OBC-NCL candidates applying against unreserved vacancies are not eligible for community-based age relaxation.
If a candidate qualifies for relaxation under multiple categories, only the highest applicable relaxation will be granted.
The date of birth entered in the application must match the Matriculation or equivalent certificate.
Requests for correction of date of birth after application submission will not be accepted.
Candidates should verify their eligibility details and supporting documents carefully before submitting the application form.
In addition to the age criteria, candidates must satisfy the RRB Section Controller medical standard prescribed by the Railway Administration. Medical fitness is a mandatory requirement for final appointment. Candidates shortlisted for document verification must undergo the prescribed medical examination.
The Section Controller post requires the A-2 medical category. Candidates who fail to meet the required medical standard will not be considered for appointment. No alternative post will be offered on medical grounds.
The RRB section controller a2 medical standard includes strict vision and overall health requirements. Candidates must satisfy the prescribed physical and visual fitness standards specified for the A-2 medical category.
The required visual acuity is as follows:

Candidates who have undergone LASIK or any other refractive eye correction procedure are not eligible for appointment to the Section Controller post. They must also submit the required self-declaration during document verification.
The prescribed RRB section controller medical fitness criteria must be fulfilled before appointment. Candidates declared medically unfit will not receive an alternate appointment under this recruitment.
The RRB section controller vision standards are an important part of the medical examination. As the Section Controller is responsible for monitoring train operations and ensuring safe railway movement, meeting the prescribed vision standards is mandatory.

Candidates should note that the visual acuity requirements are mandatory. Failure to meet any of these standards may lead to disqualification during the medical examination.
The RRB section controller medical test is conducted after document verification for candidates shortlisted in the recruitment process. The examination is carried out by the Railway Administration to confirm that the candidate is medically fit for the post.
During the medical examination, the Railway Administration assesses candidates for the following:
Overall physical fitness
Distant and near vision
Colour vision
Binocular vision
Night vision
Myopic vision
Other health conditions required for railway service
Candidates are advised to ensure that they meet the prescribed medical standards before applying. If a candidate is declared medically unfit for the Section Controller post, no alternate appointment will be offered.
Candidates who wish to challenge the medical result can file a medical appeal within the prescribed time after paying the applicable fee. The decision of the appeal medical examination will be final.
